September 3, 2025Such a joy to work with and very talented as well!
Cold River was absolutely incredible at our wedding! They played during both the ceremony and cocktail hour, and their music brought everything together so beautifully. We received countless compliments on how talented they were and how perfectly their music set the tone for each moment! Each band member was so friendly and kind. Communication with them was seamless, they checked in regularly to ensure everything was just as we envisioned. I can’t recommend Cold River enough and would definitely hire them again in the future for other special events!

What to expect
We have two main setups that we utilize. for festivals and main stage events, we have our setup left to right with individual mics. But our favorite setup and what makes us unique, is the raw energy we bring gathered around a large diaphragm mic. This is the true classic form of Appalachian music and we love to showcase this style with our band. It’s fun for the listeners to not only hear, but visualize the teamwork and talent of a 5 piece string band. We are a faced paced band. Most of music is very upbeat and you’ll find your audience can’t help but tap a toe or start to dance — we’ve seen the most sophisticated let loose in spontaneous fun! We have long form instrumentals similar to Billy Strings, and also original and Appalachian favorites with modern folk covers as well.
