Cody Tyler
Overview
We perform country music in a similar style as Tyler Childers, Jamey Johnson, Cody Jinks, Colter Wall, the Steel Woods, Sturgill Simpson, Turnpike Troubadours, etc. If you are booking for a private party or a 100+ capacity music venue, we are the band for you. We are not a wedding / cover band, and we do not play the pop country you hear on the radio i.e. Florida Georgia Line, Dan + Shay, Kane Brown, Dierks Bentley, Kenny Chesney, Lil Nas X, etc.

February 26, 2020Groove oriented outlaw style country
Great original songs mixed with a few covers to round out the show. Powerful vocals by Cody, and a great rhythm section backing him. This band is high energy, and groove oriented Americana at its best.

What to expect
We are a country-rock band based in Reading, PA but are willing and able to travel anywhere in the country. We play our own songs as well as familiar covers. We are able to “read the room” and lean into whatever the crowd is feeling. Some artists and subgenres of country we cover include but are not limited to:
- 90’s country (Brooks & Dunn, Travis Tritt, Alan Jackson etc.)
- Modern country (Cody Johnson, Zach Top, Midland, etc.)
- Modern outlaw country (Chris Stapleton, Cody Jinks, Turnpike Troubadours, etc.)
- Modern bluegrass (Billy Strings, Tyler Childers, etc.)
- Classic country (Hank Williams, Jr., Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Jerry Reed, etc.)
- Southern/classic rock (Allman Brothers, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc.)
About
You could call Cody Tyler “red dirt country,” but the rocky soil in coal country and the rust belt, where his family has been rooted for centuries, is a few shades darker. The songs on his award-winning debut album, Stare Your Demons Down, are the product of Cody's musings while hunting and hiking deep in the Pennsylvania wilderness.
Hailing from the foothills of Appalachia, Cody is an old soul, drawing heavy influence from the likes of Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, The Allman Brothers Band, Sturgill Simpson, and more. Together with his band, Cody’s wide-ranging voice and guitar sport a multigenerational road-tested sound.
The band consists of six-string prodigy Raif Groves on lead guitar, laid back and rock-steady drummer Gavin Orth, and groove-oriented and precise fretless bassist Sean Grahn. Together, Cody and the band are able to bend genres and include elements of bluegrass and southern rock in their unique coal country sound with a rust belt attitude that Cody calls “Black Dirt Country.”
Cody Tyler’s debut album, Stare Your Demons Down, was recorded with Jeff McKinnon at Think Loud Studios in York, PA, and Full Tilt Productions in Mechanicsburg, PA. Mastered by Grammy-winner Pete Lyman (Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers) at Infrasonic Mastering in Nashville, TN, Cody paints a picture of the album’s sound as “dusty like the coal mines and rusty like the steel mills. It’s soulful and bluesy country for folks that want to kick up their boots.”
In 2024, Cody and the band were the winners of the I-105 WIOV Showdown in the Park, securing an opening slot at the 2024 I-105 Fall Fest, where they opened for Cole Swindell, Gabby Barrett, and more in front of a crowd of over 17,000. In 2023, the Central Pennsylvania Music Hall of Fame awarded the band with two CPMA’s for Album of the Year for their efforts on Stare Your Demons Down and Best Country Band at the 4th Annual Central Pennsylvania Music Awards at the Hershey Theatre in Hershey, PA. In 2019, Cody was the runner-up in the Tumbleweed Country Music Festival Rising Star Talent Search in La Cygne, KS, which featured over 300 country music artists from the US and Canada. In 2017, he was a Top 150 vocalist for Season 14 of NBC’s The Voice, reaching the executive producer callback auditions in Los Angeles.
Cody and the band have opened for numerous national touring acts, including Charles Wesley Godwin, Silverada, Cole Swindell, Parmalee, Creed Fisher, Jason Scott & the High Heat, Gabby Barrett, Conner Smith, Courtney Patton, Jason Eady, Ben Jarrell, Alex Williams, Ellis Bullard, Justin Clyde Williams, Drew Baldridge, Josh Ross, Dallas Moore, and more.
Additional booking notes
Our band’s fee is all-inclusive and includes our travel / accommodations, use of our full sound system, light display, etc. The band is entirely self-sufficient and requires one or two hard-wired electrical outlets to power everything (no generators, please. They can create a surge and permanently damage gear).
We are available in four different formats:
- Solo acoustic
- Duo (Cody Tyler on lead vocals / guitar and Raif Groves on lead guitar / backing vocals)
- 4-piece band (lead vocals/guitar, lead guitar/backing vocals, bass, and drums)
- 5-piece band (the four piece band plus a pedal steel guitar player)
