Cody Ryan Arthur, tenor, has been praised for his “well-timed comic relief” (San Diego Story) and for bringing “ noble presence [and] aristocratic line” (South Florida Classical Review). Cody is quickly establishing a diverse professional career on operatic, concert, and choral stages across the US and abroad. His operatic repertoire ranges from the Baroque to the Contemporary including Renaud (Lully’s Armide), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Lindoro (L’italiana in Algeri), Ernesto (Don Pasquale), Albert (Albert Herring), Samuel Parris (The Crucible), and Larry Renault (regional premiere of Dinner at Eight). On the concert stage he has sung as a soloist with Ars Lyrica (Handel’s Esther), Bach Society of Houston (Oktoberfest and Advent Vespers ), and River Oaks Chamber Orchestra (Messiah with The Church of St. John the Divine).
As a Young Artist, Cody has performed with Miami Music Festival, Chicago Summer Opera, Opera NEO, and Operafest Sewanee. Locally, Cody has performed with HGOco (premiere of Marian’s Song), Opera in the Heights (Tosca, Lucia di Lammermoor), and with the Houston Grand Opera Chorus (Aida, Turandot). Outside the realm of classical music, Cody enjoys singing Musical Theater, Southern Gospel, and Jazz and regularly joins Cameron Cody Music and James Kelly Music as a guest in their Dueling Piano and Gospel concerts and tour. Cody currently lives in Houston, TX and regularly sings with Bach Society Houston and Houston Grand Opera.
