About

I am a Norwegian composer, orchestrator, and pianist based in Cary, NC, with a passion for crafting evocative and compelling musical narratives. My journey in music began in Oslo, where I earned degrees in Musicology, Orchestration, and Composition from The University of Oslo and The Norwegian Academy of Music. I further honed my craft at the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, where I completed a Master of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre Writing.

My formal music career was launched during my service in His Majesty the King’s Guard, where I played trumpet and piano, and served as a Music Arranger and Composer. I had the honor of performing for the Norwegian Royal family and at official government events, and was recognized with the King's Guard Grant for my outstanding contributions.

For over 15 years, I have dedicated myself to composing, orchestrating, and performing across a range of musical settings. My work includes composing and orchestrating for the opening ceremony of Fredrikstad City's 450th Anniversary, and serving as music director and orchestrator for several productions at Burning Coal Theatre, including "Sunday in the Park with George" and "A Little Night Music". I have also orchestrated for Åges Danseband's "Concert in Symphony" at Rockefeller Concert Hall in Oslo, and for the musical "To Paint the Earth".

In the realm of musical theatre, my works include "Let's Be Frank", with book & lyrics by Zayre Ferrer, which featured a reading with talents such as Alex Gemignani and Doreen Montalvo, as well as "You Can't Sing" and "The Call", both collaborations with Maria Alexandria Beech and Christie Baugher. My musical "Olav den Heldige" (St. Olaf the Lucky One), co-written with Kristofer Grønskag and Patrik Stenseth, was the centerpiece of the St. Olaf Festival in Norway from 2011 to 2016. I also co-founded the theater company Teater4Real, where our inaugural musical "4Real" debuted at Norway’s first musical theatre festival, Musikal-i-teten.

From March 2018 to June 2024, I served as the Director of Culture at the Norwegian Seamen's Church in New York, further enriching my experience in fostering cultural and artistic expression.

Influences and inspiration

My musical influences are rooted in both musical theater and classical music. I have a profound appreciation for the timeless works of classical composers like Beethoven, Puccini, and Grieg, whose compositions have shaped my understanding of musical depth and complexity. Equally inspiring are the groundbreaking contributions of modern musical theater composers such as Stephen Sondheim, Richard Rodgers, Alan Menken, and Bobby Lopez. Their innovative approaches and storytelling through music have greatly influenced my creative vision and musical sensibilities.
