Christa Colvin

Christa Faison Colvin is a wife, bonus mom, minister, educator, administrator, and violinist of over 3 decades. Christa holds a B.M. in Music Education from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and Masters of Education in Music Education degree from Anderson University. She taught elementary Music, Strings, and Chorus for 8 1/2 years, voted (phone number hidden)9 Teacher of the Year, and founded STAR-chestra, the first elementary strings program for the New Hanover County public school system. In humble recognition of her educational leadership and community service experience as an Assistant Principal and Supervisor of Arts Education, Christa earned the White Lotus Emerging Leaders Award through NC Project Lead.

Christa has been playing the violinist since age 2 ½ and has advanced in her musical career as a violinist in the Wilmington Symphony, Arbor String Trio, and Tallis Chamber Orchestra, and a freelance violinist throughout North Carolina. Christa also serves as the Minister of Music for her church, Byrd’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Rose Hill, NC. As a solo violinist, Christa has been featured for various local educational programs, community festivals, concerts, and led praise and worship and ministered the Gospel for revivals, youth, and women's conferences and events.

Christa is married to Lawrence Colvin, Jr. (piano), with whom she enjoys making music most! Above all, Christa Colvin is a believer in Jesus Christ, and believes that her greatest mission is to be a servant - to the Lord, her family, and community for His glory.
