About
Led by charismatic frontman Chino Espinoza, affectionately known in the Salsa world as “Chino El Sonero”, this powerhouse Latin orchestra is one of the most dynamic acts to come out of Southern California. A proud native of Costa Rica, Chino brings a rich musical heritage and decades of experience to the stage. What makes this band even more special? It’s a family affair—Chino is joined by his son, J Espinoza, forming the only active father-son Salsa singing duo in the scene today.
Based in Orange County, Chino’s musical journey took flight in the early 90s when he recorded his first album as lead vocalist of "Opa-Opa" for Warner Brothers. Since then, his voice and energy have been featured alongside some of the greatest names in Latin music, including Celia Cruz, Eddie Santiago, Tony Vega, Tito Puente Jr., and Miles Peña, to name just a few.
Chino has performed and recorded with esteemed groups like the Malibu Salsa All Stars, L.A. Jazz All Stars, RMM All Stars Band, and the Tito Puente/Eddie Palmieri Tribute Orchestra. His versatile voice has graced projects with Nelly Furtado & Juanes, Pete Escovedo, Bette Midler, Bobby Rivas, Rumba Grande, and many more.
Over the years, Chino and his son, along with their orchestra, have shared the stage with Salsa legends such as Ismael Miranda, Oscar D’León, Sonora Ponceña, Cano Estremera, Tito Nieves, and Andy Montañez, either as an opening act or guest performers. His ability to connect with these icons speaks to the level of respect he commands in the Salsa community and his dedication to preserving and elevating the genre.
With Los Dueños del Son—a dynamic group of musicians hailing from a variety of Latin American countries—Chino brings together a fusion of cultures and rhythms that create a truly unique blend of Salsa music. Their diverse backgrounds come alive on stage, delivering an electrifying big band experience that blends the fire of Salsa, the swing of Cha Cha, the rhythm of Cumbia, and the flavor of Merengue, along with original compositions that light up every dance floor.
Whether performing at festivals, private events, or iconic venues, Chino Espinoza y Los Dueños del Son guarantee a high-energy, unforgettable musical experience that celebrates the soul of Latin music.
