A professional black tie quality jazz band that can dress vintage and spice up any event with those themes.
We are a 5-10 piece jazz band that has been performing and wowing audiences since 1997 while the singer and a trombonist were in college for music. The band has shared the stage with many great jazz legends and Shannon Cherry as recently as early 2018 has been performing in New York City, Boston, Orlando, Cocoa Beach and Nashville at internationally acclaimed venues. The band is a male singer (Shannon "Chief" Cherry) who's repertoire includes Frank Sinatra, Johnny Hartman, Billy Eckstine, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole and also plays saxophones and other reed instruments. They have two female singers that sing solos on famously recorded songs by Billie Holiday, Nancy Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald as well as provide harmonized backup vocals and fashionable vintage glitz and glamour to the show. A full rhythm section with piano, string bass and drums as well as a 3-5 piece horn section is also included. On the local/Central Florida music scene, there is no straight jazz group that can touch the Chief Cherry Group out of Brevard County. They’re out of control. I first heard them at Lafayette’s Music Room at Pointe Orlando in August 2016 when I was a 9th Judicial Circuit Candidate running for office (the same night our campaign qualified for the November 8, 2016 general election). Chief Cherry and His Red Beans & Rice is led by multi-reed player Shannon Cherry and their musical repertoire includes all of the Rat Pack stuff, Jaco Pastorius, Miles Davis, Cannonball Adderley, Wayne Shorter, Lou Donaldson, and many more. This is real music! And they cannot be touched!
