Charmaine Evonne

Charmaine Evonne is a very engaging performer. Whether she is on stilts, flowing with LEDs, or doing her unique twist on the "Party Robot" character, she will draw your guests in and leave them with memories to last a lifetime. She is all about creating those special "wow" moments for everyone around her.

You can expect her to arrive at least an hour early for setup, and she can either bring her own PA and music source, or work with your band or DJ. She is always respectful of her space and will be polite and unobtrusive until it is showtime. For larger shows and prop rentals, she has a Ford E-250 to haul all of the gear.

Peg stilts may seem like they require only certain surfaces, but Charmaine is almost completely all-terrain, and can navigate wet grounds, gravelly hills, dance a jog in the wet street - we're working on stairs but she's great at ducking under doorways and can even ride an elevator! Anything but ice and deep mud.

For some kinds of shows, Charmaine will bring an assistant, who will help with any setup and safety requirements. An assistant fee will apply in those cases but will be included in your quote breakdown for transparency.

Stilts are a big wow for many events, and her LED costumes never fail to disappoint. She loves to dance with guests, and greet people and help them feel welcomed at your events.

Though she has been entertaining through dance, music and theatre for many years, Charmaine started her circus arts journey with fire dancing, and this is one of her favorite skills to create wonder with.

While consciously cautious because of the nature of the flame, she loves to encourage audience interaction, and banter. Her dance is high-energy, down-to-business flow that combines a history of jazz, tumbling, ballet, martial arts, tap, burlesque, tribal and bellydance into a truly unique movement fusion. "Don't go out!" audience members cry, often at the end of her fan dance. Children love her, and there is little else in performing that tops the wonder in a wee one's eyes when they see a fire artist for the first time.

Regardless of the show you have booked, Charmaine loves sparking the interest of aspiring performers as well and does her best to make herself accessible to the crowd for Q&A time after each show (if it is allowed by the venue). Her performance time is very flexible; longer shows or shorter are all within her realm. Want a fire-eating mime? She's on it. Gypsy poi spinner? She's on it. Staff-spinning warrior? On it. Industrial freak flinging molten steel? So on it. It is her great pleasure to create unique new characters and shows... just for you. For fun, for love, and for memories that will last your guests a lifetime.

Charmaine Freemonk aka Cat Lady Cabaret is a circus artist, singer, and stilt walker with over 35 years of experience entertaining audiences of all ages. She has been performing with fire for over 15 year, and stilt walking and dancing for 5 years at a professional level. She has wowed guests at corporate events, backyard parties, anniversaries, and was the first fire artist to burn on the dance floor of the Wyndham in their Grand Ballroom. She has breathed fire for hundreds of amazed spectators for the 10th anniversary of First night, and has made annual appearances at many events in and around Pittsburgh. Notably, working with Lovely Lady Lydia Artistry at the Festival of Combustion, and Sirkus Dayz at the Joy Thru in Fayette, as well as light-up nights, private parties and corporate functions.

Charmaine is also a musician and you can book her to play up to 4 hours of covers on the ukulele - a very popular Luau package is a couple of hours of ukulele music and then a fun fire show finale!

Charmaine notably appears on Netflix as part of their "Cat People" series (episode 2), and also appeared on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert during her time as a cat trainer with the Amazing Acro-Cats. She also was an assistant trainer on set for the film "Think Like a Dog" starring Megan Fox and Jeff Duhamel.

Charmaine has created many, many costumed characters from upcycled clothing items and ingenuity - too many to showcase on GigSalad, so please ask if you'd like to see her full array of costumes and characters! She has dance and martial arts training and incorporates both into her fire and LED flow shows. She also has a variety of niche acts available, including daytime flow arts (no fire or LEDs), a 20 minute interactive clown show, Flow Center for the kids (bubbles, balloons, silk fans, hula hoops, and giant parachutes!), Side Show, and Cat Training coaching sessions.

Charmaine carries fire insurance and can send her certificate upon request, she is also happy to help you get any permits required for your event. MUSIC: Charmaine can either bring her own PA and show music, or create a custom playlist for your event. She can also work with live bands or your rented DJ.

For events with few power options, she has a battery bank that can run her LED wall and PA for a couple of hours or more.

Fire Shows are typically performed outdoors, however with venue permission, fire shows can be performed safely indoors as long as the venue has sufficient ceiling height and ventilation, and any smoke alarm systems are prevented from triggering.

An insurance certificate for the venue space and/or event can be provided upon request for all performances. Performer insurance will also be provided.

Fire shows require a secure area typically 20x20' for performance, and a smaller adjacent area for fueling and storing props - both will be roped off using her perimeter poles and caution tape.

Fueling usually begins 5-20 minutes before the actual show time. Special introductions and entrances are possible with pre-planning.

Stilt walking bookings: Often Charmaine brings a 6ft ladder for her station, but can also get up from her vehicle or other places. We can discuss this ahead of time to ensure a smooth entrance and exit with no disruption to the event.

Inclement weather issues can be discussed day-of. If the weather looks as though it will disrupt a fire show, we can switch to LED props for the same price and move the show indoors if indoors is an option. Stilt walking can occur outside or indoors, as long as ceiling height is 10ft or higher.
