What to expect
If you can imagine seeing a James Taylor, Passenger or Noah Kahan live - but solo in a small venue, then you get the idea! Acoustic guitar and vocals, sometimes mixed in with drum/bass/guitar loops to make a bigger sound when appropriate. Ideal for weddings, anniversaries or engagements (lots of love songs!), but equally comfortable belting out Irish/East-coast ballads and drinking songs, or classics like Sweet Caroline or Brown Eyed Girl that will have the audience singing along.
About
A Canadian singer, songwriter and guitar player, Chad Wenzel plays music from the crossroads of rock and country music, blended with folk from yesterday and today. “North” Americana - driving fingerstyle acoustic guitar rhythms, lyrics that will resonate in your soul, and melodies that captivate the heart.
Chad Wenzel recently released a 6-song EP of original songs, “My Hometown”. The title track is an ode to small town Ontario and the evolutions that happen over time - good and bad - and is based on his experiences living in Parry Sound, ON. It is available on Spotify and all other major streaming platforms.
In addition to my original songs, my live repertoire contains an eclectic mix of pop/rock/folk cover songs - some common, some that are great songs but lesser known. I also have a large selection from contemporary Canadian artists such as Donovan Woods, Great Big Sea, Joel Plaskett, William Prince, Forest Blakk, and classic Canadian anthems by the likes of Stan Rogers, Ron Hynes and more.
Additional booking notes
The only requirement I have is electrical. Let me know the size and location and I will bring along an appropriate audio system. Totally self-sufficient, but if you have a stage/sound system/sound person then that's great too - I love plug and play shows! I have even done solo acoustic shows (e.g,. on a cottage dock, around a campfire) and have a small battery pack and speaker for support.
