Cellista provides the perfect soundtrack for your perfect day. Whether from the top of her trapeze or on the ground performing beautiful looped music, Cellista's performances always delight.
A classically-trained cellist comfortable in an array of genres, Cellista creates striking soundtracks for every event.
Cellista has performed everywhere from the Lincoln Center, performing her original music in partnership with the NY Phil, to the set of Will & Grace and FX's Better Things. She is know for her live looping sets, which have been described as "beautifully weird and haunting.
Cellista was everything we had hoped. Her music brought so much elegance to my daughter's wedding. It was absolutely beautiful! She responded quickly to all my messages. I would definitely recommend her without hesitation.
Freya was so great to work with! She was kind, quick to respond to all messages and overall easy to work with. My now husband and I needed a cellist to perform the opening to Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture which is no easy feat considering it requires 8 cellos. Freya's solution was to use her loop pedal to prerecord the arrangement while playing the melody live. It sounded incredible from start to finish and (I was told) the performance brought many to happy tears. She also played our cocktail hour and the musical selection and ambiance it created was exactly what we hoped for.
I would highly recommend hiring Freya/ Cellista for any event. The level of professionalism and performance with and without the loop pedal makes her a cut above the rest.
She was wonderful from start to finish. Her recommendations were perfect, she was communicative, and of course her playing was incredible. The mood was set, it was all beautiful and dreamy and one couldn't help swaying along. Oh, and despite traffic making everyone else late, she and the violinist she came with were spot on time. Probably early--they were playing when I (the hostess) arrived.
Response from Cellista:
Dear Katelyn,
Thank you so much for having us play your incredible event! Matt and I were blown away by everything. Such a gorgeous idea!
So glad you enjoyed the music. We loved playing for you and your friends!
I was so happy with her professionalism, she knew exactly what needed to be played at the wedding. The only disappointing part was that I wanted to sit and listen to her for hours but had attend my wedding reception.
Response from Cellista:
Dear Morgan,
Thank you so much for the kind words. Playing your gorgeous and fun-spirited wedding was an absolute blast!
In addition to being a skilled musician, Cellista is professional, very kind, and helpful. Cellista has an extensive repertoire to choose from. Creating the song list was a breeze as she had spot on suggestions for us. Our guests loved her performance. We very much appreciate her being a part of our celebration.
I had a recording session and was in need of a cello player. Cellista exceeded my expectations by far, especially with the fairly limited time I gave her to prepare. I am super happy with her work and hope to record with her again someday.
Thanks again Cellista!
Response from Cellista:
Thank you so very much for the kind words! It was really fun to work with you and I loved your engineer! It was a really smooth session. I can't wait to hear the EP!
Thank you again for the invitation to play on your record.
Yours,
Cellista
Freya was a delight to work with from the start. Her music selections and communication made us feel confident that we could rely on her on the day of the wedding. She was very professional and easy to work with.

Freya is absolutely beautiful! Her music made the wedding celebration even more special.
On time, beautiful music 🎶
I cannot say enough positive things about this artist... she performed at our daughter's college graduation party and she will be in our memories forever. Accompanying me on guitar, she even allowed me to join in a duet for our graduate! Unforgettable!
Freya was a great performer. Her music was great and her personality was very friendly. I hired Freya to come and perform for my wife's birthday and it turned out great. Now I will have a really tough time topping this for Valentine's.
Response from Cellista:
Thank you so much for having me!! It was super fun playing music for your wife's birthday!!!
Let me know if you want to come up with a special plan for Valentine's! :)
Good experience. She came prepared and was open to changes. Flexible and it was a fun session.
Freya is exceptional. She performed at our wedding ceremony and truly did an amazing job! She is very helpful, highly communicative and very easy to work with. She was able to accommodate our every need.
The sound of her music is amazing! She also has a pretty sweet carbon fiber cello. I highly recommend Freya, and would not hesitate to use her skills, which musically go far beyond the Cello, in the future
Response from Cellista:
Dear Philip,
Thank you so much for the awesome review! Your wedding was totally stunning and I felt pretty lucky to get to play Bach and Elvis in the middle of a red wood forest!
Thank you!!!!!!!!! and congrats!!!!
Cellista Music was very professional to work with and when she played at the wedding, it was totally beautiful. I would recommend her to my friends.
Response from Cellista:

Freya and her music were absolutely beautiful and professional. She made the evening so lovely and played exactly what we requested. Highly recommended!
Response from Cellista:
Dear Lisa,
Thank you so much for the kind review. It really was a treat to play for this wonderful birthday party!
My husband and I hired Freya Seeburger to provide the cellist music for our wedding ceremony and cocktail reception and found her at Cellista.net. Freya’s communication was excellent from start to finish. She met with us via email about one month before the wedding (and a bunch more times during the year because I was a stressed bride with loads of questions!) to discuss the details, and she really did an excellent job of combining her repertoire with our vision in order to create a wonderful projected live soundtrack for our magical day. She even learned a few new songs that weren't already part of her song list, including an instrumental version of one of our favorite songs Calvin Harris, Sleeping Beauty, Lady Gaga and DMX (yes, the hardcore rapper!) It was so beautiful and contributed greatly to my inability to hold back the tears after my father walked me down the aisle to “Over the Rainbow.” She touched everyone. Our wedding had a pretty elaborate schedule that involved a lot of acrobatics on her part in order to break up into a variety of different ensembles and jump from one location to another. Freya also ended up having to skillfully maneuver around working with our wedding coordinators, venue catering director, crazy Persian bossy father (lots of cooks in the kitchen!) but being the professional that she is, we had no idea about any challenges faced at the time and were able to enjoy the best day of our lives without any unnecessary preoccupation. Thanks Freya for a real good time and your elegance shined bright, my wedding guests still ask about you!
We highly recommend Freya, especially for mixed weddings (ours was American/Persian/Portuguese) as she is highly skilled in all traditional and modern music. She plays this music with passion and soul, she just rocks!
Response from Cellista:
Thank you so much for having me play your beyond gorgeous wedding!!!!!
I am still bragging to my friends about your chandeliers!
Loved loved love working with you!!!
Freya from Cellista Music did a wonderful job playing at our wedding rehearsal and more importantly at our wedding ceremony. She arrived on time during each occasion and was very professional.
Communication was great and she was receptive to our needs and exceeded our expectation.
If you are looking for a professional cellist to play at your event, I would really consider booking Freya.
Response from Cellista:
Dear Tim,
Thank you so much for the kind review! Really appreciate it!
We thoroughly enjoyed her music!!! She was timely, organized, professional, and needed very little guidance to play for our wedding and reception.
Big thank you!!!!
Response from Cellista:
Thank you so much for the kind review! I really enjoyed playing this wedding. I loved the DIY vibe of the wedding!
Congratulations! Thank you so much for having me play!
We hired this talented musician to play at my sister-in-law's tea party themed baby shower. She was excellent, very professional, and just pleasant all around. Her performance was superb, and well suited for the occasion. She blended very well into her surroundings with out the need for any direction. I highly recommend her to anyone!
Response from Cellista:
Thank you for the kind review! I really enjoyed playing the baby shower. I'm so glad you enjoyed my performance!
We hired Freya to perform before, during, and for the processional at my daughter's wedding amongst the redwoods in Ben Lomond, CA. Freya is a joy to work with in every respect. She responds promptly; is reliable, imaginative, and in all ways professional. She even agreed to play a few duets with the groom's classical guitarist as part of the musical program, a last-minute idea that required sheet music for both musicians. No problem for Freya! She cheerfully accomodated the bride's and groom's special requests. We loved her musical artisty, which struck the right note under the subdued and elegant redwood canopy. She's clearly a dedicated professional whom I would recommend for any suitable venue. Good luck, Freya!
Her playing is unbelievably expressive. I heard her when she played at Bottom of the Hill and thought it brought a terrific sound to Doe Eye's band. I also her her do classical at an art gallery. She's incredible.

"Built on a classical foundation, her music is beautifully avant-garde yet accessible enough to touch one’s sensitivities and create intrigue surrounding her music, her world-view, her all-encompassing vision – elegantly combining sound, space and dance in an impactful way and the meshed field of wonderment connecting them" – Big Takeover Magazine
"As a musician and performance artist who conjures fantastical dreamscapes, Cellista dwells in a liminal realm where Jungian archetypes bump up against the Brothers Grimm." - Andrew Gilbert, San Jose Mercury News
Los Angeles-based Cellista’s penchant for performing music in unconventional spaces, and her devotion to collaborating with artists across media and genres disrupts the world of the classical performing arts. Cellista traverses the walls between disciplines and the borders between spectator and audience. She defies standard categorization and etches out her own niche through her performances of captivating theatrical recitals which interweave film, text, and dance.
Fresh off her 2021 Lincoln Center debut, Cellista is a sought after collaborator. She has worked with the New York Philharmonic and the Howard Zinn Education Project, Red Bull Flying Bach, Grammy-nominated artist Tanya Donelly, producer John Vanderslice, Troyboi, Don McLean, Casey Crescenzo (The Dear Hunter), Van Dyke Parks, Tony! Toni! Toné!, and Pam the Funkstress.
Her compositions and performances have been heard on film and TV including PBS; and she has appeared as an extra on the TV shows Better Things and Will & Grace playing her cello. Her interdisciplinary exhibit The End of Time premiered alongside renowned visual artist Barron Storey’s solo exhibit Quartet at Anno Domini art gallery in downtown San Jose with her chamber music collective the Juxtapositions Chamber Ensemble. The dual exhibition, created in tribute to French composer Olivier Messiaen’s seminal chamber work The Quartet for the End of Time, received critical acclaim.
She is elected chapter governor of the Recording Academy and a former San Jose arts commissioner. She received a masters in business from the Berklee College of Music in 2020. She is the founding artistic director of House of Cellista in Longmont, CO; a microcenter for the arts which advocates and offers subsidized housing to working artists. Additionally, she composes for film and TV through her publishing company Juxtapositions. Cellista plays a Luis & Clarke carbon fibre cello and an 1885 Czech cello named Chordelia.
One arm-less chair for all performances
For outdoor gigs, shade and covering is required to protect the cello and equipment from sun and water damage.
Amplified Performances:
For venues with a sound set-up, Cellista's requirements are simple: a 1/4" input DI and a monitor.
For house parties, weddings, private events, etc - Cellista can provide sound through a small PA.
