About

Praised for her warm, crystal-clear tone and expressive vocal artistry, Catherine Larson is a rising soprano based in Chicago, IL. Originally from Highland, IN, Catherine obtained a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from North Park University and a Bachelor of Music from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, and has quickly established herself as a dedicated and versatile performer across genres from opera to sacred music. Among her notable opera roles are the Soldier in Jerre Dye and Zach Redler’s The Falling and the Rising (2022) and Terra in Michael J. Polo’s international premiere of Pluto at the Vienna Summer Music Festival (2022). In concert settings, Catherine has been featured as a soloist and chorister in renowned works including Mozart’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, and John Rutter’s Requiem. Her solo recitals, such as her self-produced program Gifts of Love (2024), highlight her grasp of wide-ranging repertoire and a commitment to exploring and promoting new music. As a choral artist, Catherine is active in the Chicago area, contributing her versatile talents to esteemed ensembles such as Music of the Baroque, the Schola Cantorum at the distinguished Holy Name Cathedral, and serving as a member of the Grant Park Supplemental Chorus (2024). She is also dedicated to community-based ensembles singing with the Edgewater Singers and other community organizations.

Catherine has received accolades, including a feature in Classical Singer Magazine (2023) and consecutive Performance Honors Awards at North Park University (2022). She has worked under several renowned artists such as the British conductor and musicologist Jane Glover, and the internationally renowned operatic soprano Judith Haddon. Outside of music, Catherine enjoys spending time with her two dogs, Rose and Jack, and spending time in nature
