Breathing new life into ancient motifs, Appalachian-born singer-songwriter Cassidy Dickens creates intimate, folk-infused indie music. A 2017 Beachcomber Music Award Nominee for Best Female Vocalist, Best Singer Songwriter, Album of the Year, and Best Original Song, Cassidy’s songs and voice often draw comparison to female folk and pop rock favorites like Jewel, Stevie Nicks, and Grace Potter.
Currently based out of Nashville, Tennessee, Cassidy has been performing throughout the U.S. for the last five years. Her debut album Ghosts, released June 2015, was a heartfelt 14-track compilation of songs written over the span of her junior high, high school, and early college years. She released her follow up single, Heart to Heart, in January 2017.
Cassidy began her journey as a professional musician when she was only 12, drawing influence from classic bluegrass and country music — including that of predecessors Little Jimmy and Hazel Dickens — as well as from 60s-70s folk hits and modern-day quirky indie idols like Ingrid Michaelson and Regina Spektor. The sum is a fresh, young perspective on topics more typical of someone many years her senior. Favoring classic subjects like love, home, and nostalgia, her light-heartedly introspective lyrics and lilting, sultry voice take listeners on an emotional road trip through raw heartache, humorous deprecation, and hopeful reflection.
