Candlelight Productions is a full-time company delivering post-produced media & real-time live-switched multi-camera video productions for a diverse clientele.

Regardless of the type of engagement, we have a few principals philosophies all our clients can count on:

(1) We take our work *very* seriously, but aren't very serious. The days are long. People get stressed. So what to do? -- have fun! Seriously, we love every job & are thankful to regularly be surrounded by awesome creative people... so staying lighthearted comes easy.

(2) Create a win-win engagement! We know there are often three parties that need to be happy -- our clients (eg event producer), performers (their clients) & of course, our business (us!). Almost always, there's a win-win arrangement that works for everyone.. we try to make it happen! We listen. We learn. And people are happy!

(3) Collaborate w/the other professionals. Sometimes that means planning positions with a staff photographer. Often it involves planning w/ an audio engineer to get the best possible audio we can for an event. And more often than not, we end up helping to arrange chairs so that audiences can see well while performers get a least-obstructed video. It's awesome when all professionals "play nice" together :-)

(4) Set the "Quality Bar" as high as we can. Each of our clients works immensely hard at what they do. We want to do the same, & give back to them the same passion they put into whatever it is they are doing.

LIVE EVENT Multi-Performer Stage Productions and Competitions: Performers go home with their video, in-hand. Sometimes that's DVD. Sometimes it's a thumb-drive with an HD video on it. Sometimes it's a live stream.

STAGE PRODUCTIONS (Musical Theatre, Concerts, Recitals) -- Archival (for the performer/venue/producer) and For-Sale Video Productions. When we shoot these, we work with the producer/director in advance to understand our boundaries (e.g. will we go on stage and/or setup additional stage cameras, or use POV equipment). More often than not, we maintain a "low profile" to avoid distracting the audience, although when higher production value is desired we'll bring in jibs/cranes and shoot off-performance to get additional content (e.g. for a theatrical promo reel)

LIFE EVENTS (Weddings, Bar Mitzvas, Living Legacies, other): When our event production schedule permits, we sometimes are able to fit in video work for life events, which we love just as much as stage performances! We know they are so important to families and individuals, and accordingly only approach these with multiple cameras and staffing. All our professionals know the importance of the "guest experience" and maintain as low a profile as possible, using equipment which minimizes dependencies on obnoxious video lighting of the past.

OUR BACKGROUND:

Candlelight Productions has a core team comprised of Rob Rothkopf and Maia A Potter and has been a full-time production company since 2007. For the 8 years preceeding this, Rob produced multi-camera productions for many dance shows surrounding Western New York and Niagara Falls/Canada region. During that same time, Maia was building her dance career in professional West Coast companies in San Francisco and southern Oregon.

Together, Rob and Maia have delivered High Definition performance videos to many thousands of dancer from across the globe, producing live-switched "Instant HD" and DVD videos for festivals including Rakkasah (NJ and CA), Art of the Belly (Ocean City MD), Cairo Caravan (Long Beach CA), Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive (Vegas) and others. Thousands of families have enjoyed our retellings of their childrens' Musical Theatre productions and Dance Recitals -- and musicians we've produced video for continue to enchant their audiences as they travel the US. Besides the core team of two, Candlelight Productions works with a team of skilled camera, audio, lighting and design professionals, locally and on-site to meet our client's needs.

Details technical requirements are written up as part of the proposal process for larger job as needed. CP can provision lighting and sound as needed either completely in-house or via collaboration with our network of professionals in those areas.
