What to expect
The moment Cande Rivers and Frequency took the stage, the room shifted. It wasn’t just the lights dimming or the soft hum of anticipation in the air—it was the energy. Eleven powerhouse musicians stood poised, instruments gleaming under the spotlight, with Cande herself radiating confidence and charisma at the center.
What followed was nothing short of electric. The band opened with an explosive cover of Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September,” and within seconds, the entire crowd was on their feet. Horns blared with precision, the rhythm section was airtight, and the harmonies—rich and effortless—wrapped the audience in nostalgia and excitement all at once.
Cande Rivers and Frequency don’t just play music—they live it. From the fierce rock edge of AC/DC’s “Back in Black” to the sultry soul of Chaka Khan’s “Ain’t Nobody,” the band moved between genres with incredible fluidity. One minute you were swaying to the dreamy harmonies of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams,” and the next you were belting out the chorus to Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love” like it was your personal anthem.
The band’s chemistry was palpable. Every member, from the saxophonist delivering jaw-dropping solos to the drummer laying down infectious grooves, brought undeniable talent and joy to the stage. Their Motown medley turned the venue into a time machine, conjuring the golden age of soul with effortless flair. And when Cande’s voice soared through Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” there wasn’t a still body in the room.
But what really made the night unforgettable was the way they connected with the crowd. Whether it was a soulful jazz interlude or a high-octane cover of Rihanna’s “We Found Love,” Cande Rivers and Frequency weren’t just performing at us—they were performing with us. Each song felt like a celebration, a shared moment between band and audience where the worries of the world fell away, and only the music remained.
By the time they closed with a dazzling mashup of Madonna, Taylor Swift, and Beyoncé, it was clear: this band isn’t just a cover band—they’re an experience. A full-body, heart-thumping, joy-inducing experience that reminds you why you love music in the first place.
Cande Rivers and Frequency don’t just bring the party. They are the party.
About
Cande Rivers is a vocalist, songwriter, and designer who resides in South Florida. She began singing at the mere age of 5 years old in Chicago, IL sitting around the kitchen table with her 9 elder siblings. Beating on the table and beat boxing took their household by storm as cable wasn’t needed for their entertainment. Though her childhood was creative and free spirited, life became very challenging when she turned 8 years old. Her parents divorced after 36 years of marriage and that is when real life began. From sleeping in a truck in their local Walmart parking lot to Motel 8’s, Cande and her siblings only had one thing to turn to. Jesus, Music, writing, and drawing were other outlets to keep her mind at ease, spirit alive, and her creative juices flowing.
Following high school, Cande went into the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 2010. Soon after, Cande pursued her life's passion of theater arts at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. She relocated to South Florida and was blessed to join the hottest corporate band in South Florida, the Valerie Tyson Band. While being a part of such a dynamic brand she sang background for Valerie Tyson in Jazz in the Gardens 10 as well as Haitian artist Lavie in Jazz in the Gardens 11 and open for artists such as Usher, Maxwell, Erykah Badu, Run DMC, Fred Hammond and many more artists.
Cande has curated a tribute with her 11 pieces band to honor all the divas that inspired Whitney Houston in, “A Diva’s Experience,” while doing a special tribute to Whitney Houston.
Cande has been a part of productions at the Wick Theater in Boca Raton including favorites like,“The Full Monty” and “Sister Act”. In the summer of 2017, Cande was blessed to tour Jeju Island, South Korea. She has released her second single, “Fight It" and is anticipating the release of her first EP, "The Prelude of SSS; Sex, Spirit, and Sanity." She looks forward to delivering the eclectic sounds that will uplift, inspire, and rewire a generation.
