I received my very first SLR camera for my 12th birthday. I loved that thing and, from that moment forward, all the way through high school, I had the reputation of the girl with the camera!
I took classes through my senior year of high school. I photographed events for the school newspaper and yearbook. I loaned out my photography services to PTA fundraisers. I took a job freelancing for a local newspaper. I took senior photos for friends and family.
When I started college, I took a couple of classes, but my academic focus changed, and I put photography on the back burner for several years. Then, after I’d graduated a family member asked if I’d take his engagement photos. I accepted, got behind the lens again, and realized how much I missed it! I jumped back into portraits for family and friends (and some friends of friends, family of friends, and the occasional Craigslist response), but didn’t REALLY start back into things until I moved to Portland, had my first baby, and realized that photography was the creative outlet that I so desperately needed!
I’ve been so lucky over the last couple of years to photograph some amazing people! High School seniors, families, couples, moms-to-be, newborns, infants and toddlers, boudoir, birthday parties and weddings… I have loved them all!
With my background in journalistic photography, it comes as no surprise that my favorite photos are candid shots. There’s something to be said for a good family photo with everyone looking at the camera with their eyes open, but the story goes even deeper when your subjects are relaxed, in their element, and oblivious to the rapidly releasing shutter! This is why I love weddings and other events SOO much, and why, likely, at least 50% of the images in my clients’ portrait galleries are moments captured between smiling-at-the-camera-poses!

Wedding, brand and event photography focused on authentic, documentary-style storytelling. I love working with edgy, outdoorsy, or fun brands and humans.
