We hired Brian for my sisters 40th birthday, he was absolutely the highlight. Such an awesome pianist and he played a wide selection of songs and 'requests'. At one stage everyone was up singing along with him. Really genuine person and super talented. Highly recommend for any event to make it extra special, we would hire him again in a heartbeat

June 17, 2019So good, we want to book him again!
Excellent entertainment, we asked for 60's music and we got a little Elvis, a little Beatles and a lot of variety. We danced a lot, we had so much fun. And Brian is very easy to work with, too.

June 17, 2019Brian was spectacular!
We hired Brian for a small get together in May and he was absolutely fantastic! We requested a mixture of pop, Broadway, and Disney music and he provided just that! Very talented musician and made our event come to life. Also he was very punctual, took requests, and made sure we were perfectly satisfied with the music. Will definitely have him back again in the future! Thanks, Brian!

What to expect
Every performance is tailored to the event, setting, and atmosphere you are looking for.
For weddings, cocktail hours, dinners, receptions, and private events, I can provide anything from elegant solo piano or piano and vocals to a jazz trio, quartet, cocktail band, party band, horn section, or larger ensemble.
The repertoire can range from jazz standards, swing, Great American Songbook, Latin and Bossa Nova to Christmas music, R&B, Motown, pop, blues, and contemporary favorites. I’m equally comfortable providing understated background music or a more energetic performance that becomes a focal point of the event.
Leading up to the event, I’ll work with you directly to make sure the lineup, music, timing, and setup fit what you have in mind. I take professionalism seriously, including clear communication, arriving with plenty of setup time, and making the process as easy as possible for the client and venue.
About
Brian Clemens is a pianist/arranger/bandleader originally from Los Angeles. After earning his master’s degree in Jazz Performance and studying under Grammy Award-winning pianist/arranger Bill Cunliffe, Brian established himself in the Los Angeles music scene before relocating to London, where he became an in-demand performer, musical director, and arranger.
After several years in London, Brian recently made the decision to return to the U.S. and is now based in the Washington, DC area, serving clients throughout DC, Northern Virginia, Maryland, Baltimore, and the wider DMV region.
In London, Brian founded and leads Luminoso, an acclaimed jazz-pop band performing original music and arrangements influenced by the Great American Songbook, swing, Latin music, R&B, and orchestral pop. The group has toured throughout the UK and Europe, performing at leading jazz clubs including Nardis in Istanbul, Jamboree in Barcelona, b-flat in Berlin, and PizzaExpress Jazz Club in London.
Brian also directs a touring big band production, presenting themed concert shows across UK theatres and at London’s historic Wilton’s Music Hall.
Alongside his concert work, Brian has extensive experience in London’s luxury event and hospitality scene, including work as resident pianist at The Ritz London and performances at The Dorchester, The Savoy, The Peninsula, Harrods, Annabel’s, and private events throughout the city, including engagements through leading London entertainment agency Sternberg Clarke.
With more than 15 years of professional experience, Brian is equally at home performing solo piano, accompanying vocalists, leading small groups, directing larger bands, or arranging music for a custom event.
Additional booking notes
Professional keyboard/piano equipment and amplification can be provided for venues or private homes without an on-site piano.
Solo piano and smaller groups require minimal performance space. For larger ensembles, stage space, amplification, and any additional technical requirements can be coordinated with the client or venue in advance.
If your venue already has a piano or sound system, I’m happy to coordinate directly with the venue regarding the setup.
