Fit the bill perfectly.

Bob graced my mother's funeral service, falling in behind the cross as everyone filed out of the church, and leading us around the back to the cemetary, playing Scottish tunes until people were gathered. He then respectfully stood off a little ways, coming in with "Amazing Grace" after the final words were spoken. He was aimiable, dignified in traditional Scottish dress, and required no choreography instructions. A real pleasure!

So special!

Having Bob play at our wedding was one of our very favorite parts of the day! He played outside the church before and after the ceremony and everyone raved about what a special and unique touch this was. Not only did he play beautifully, but Bob was a pleasure to work with throughout the entire planning process. He was always very responsive, professional and accommodating. We got married at Boston College so he played the alma matter after the ceremony. He even tailored his outfit to fit our wedding. My husband and I are both Irish and had a black tie wedding, so Bob wore a formal jacket and black tie with an Irish Heritage Tartan Kilt. We are so happy that we had Bob play at our wedding and highly recommend hiring him for your special event as well!

Claudia, thank you so very much for your review. I am so happy I had the opportunity to play for you and your family ( and sing in Italian, too!) I hope to see you and Brendan again sometime.
Stay safe, stay well, Buon Natale, Buon cappo d’anno!

What to expect

An audience member should expect a professional performance of a variety of tunes on a well-tuned, well-maintained instrument and a professional appearance in appropriate attire, with a variety of outfits and kilts to suit any occasion, from antique to casual to formal or regimental.
A client shoud expect professionalism as well in the performance, and in the planning before hand leading up to the event.

About

The making of a piper:
After several years of professional engagements as a tuba major, playing in all types of ensembles from banjo parlor Dixieland bands to concert bands, brass choirs and symphony orchestras while receiving a degree in Music Education from Lowell State College (now UMassLowell), and teaching music, I began studying the Great Highland Bagpipe under the late Archie Macleod, Pipe Major of The Stuart Highlanders Pipe Band in Lexington, MA. Since the mid 1980s, I have performed as a solo piper for all types of events- weddings, funerals, parties, product unveilings, shop openings, church services among others. Some of my regular repeating clients for over 20 years are Mather and Cabot Houses for Harvard Commencement (more that 20 years) and St. Andrew's Church in Wellesley (about 25 Years), Boston College Agape Latte, Bay State College, Hult International School of Business, The Meadowbrook School and the Hull Firefighters
I play three types of bagpipes: the familiar (and quite loud) Great Highland Bagpipes, which is what most people think of when they hear the word "Bagpipes"; The Lowland Bagpipes (also called Border Pipes), not as loud as the Highland bagpipes, but with a similar tone, and played with a bellows rather than with the piper's breath; and Scottish Smallpipes, a much quieter, mellow sounding s set of bagpipes, also bellows-blown, suitable for smaller rooms or for background sounds in a more intimate setting.
I can provide various types of pipe tunes from a wide suitable to the occasion and in uniforms form very casual to quite formal as you require. As a composer of more that 200 bagpipe tunes, I can even provide music written for the occasion.

Additional booking notes

As a solo piper playing acoustic instruments, I can play anywhere without special staging or other technical requirements.

My Highland bagpipes tune at Concert B flat, but with an alternate chanter and modified drone reeds , I've been able to play at Concert A when called on to do so. The Lowland Pipes and smallpipes tune at Concert A.
