Amy Miller began her henna journey in 1999 when she began studying Middle Eastern dance. This also was ​the era when celebrities such as Madonna and Gwen Stefani were making henna into a fashion statement. Her then-boyfriend gave her a book, Loretta Roome's seminal Mehndi: The Timeless Art of Henna Painting, and said, "Go for it." And she did.

Her first "clients" were friends and family and anyone else who would sit still long enough to let her doodle. She did henna as a small side business until 2011 when she decided to take Blue Lotus Mehndi full time.

​She's had the privilege of decorating hundreds and hundreds of clients from virtually every walk of life. She's appeared at Diwali and Holi festivals and other cultural events around Birmingham. She also regularly travels around the state for events and clients in locations such as Tuscaloosa, Anniston, Huntsville, Montgomery and Troy.

Amy is well known for her in-depth knowledge of henna's traditions and history, her natural ease with clients, and her professional approach to business. A native of Birmingham, she is also an enthusiastic home chef, writer, traveler, wife to husband Rich, and fur-mom to her cats.

We have a fairly compact setup and can work from a roughly 3' x 3' space. If needed, we can bring tables, chairs, lighting, signage, drapes and other items for an attractive setup. For outdoor events, we also can provide a tent setup.
