What to expect

We have a professional mindset at Blue Grit. We will want to know some details about the event, such as the venue and number of attendees so we can properly assess audio requirements, any lighting, provisions for MC's if applicable, power requirements, load in time/soundcheck and parking. Events need to be on time and run smootly.
We have a top quality PA system available and professional experience in live audio. Audiences can expect clean clear and powerful sound without it being too loud. We are always sensitive to the requirements of the venue and audience. We have the ability to set up and operate very large systems for large events. We can discuss this and look after it for you.
We keep a tidy stage, free of hazards, with wires carefully managed.
Our music is well rehearsed and we engage with and interact with the audience. People who like to dance will be equially pleased with a setlist that is upbeat, and audience members who like the show will enjoy a variety of music with great musicianship on all instruments, however most of our material is guitar oriented. If you like classic guitar rock and harder edged blues music, you will not be disappointed.

About

Blue Grit is a professional and experienced group of entertainers. With experince in all areas of production for events as small as a cafe to large auditorium or television, over the years our members have developed professionalism and expertise to ensure the show goes on.
Steve Metcalf, (lead guitar, vocals, harmonica) our founding member has been playing live music for decades and is involved in live audio production, studio recording, and live performance on a number of instruments
Greg Ritchie (Drums, Vocals) is well known for his skills as a guitarist and bass player. The Greg Ritchie band plays many shows in Ontario and has ventured as far as nashville as local winners in a blues award. Greg takes care of providing us with solid drumming and harmonica in Blue Grit.
Dave Mathews (bass, Vocals) has many years experience playing all types of events from clubs to festivals. He brings solid groove oriented bass, clear vocals and a great attitude and long hair to the stage.

Additional booking notes

Blue Grit is a 3 piece band. We require sufficient stage area to set up a full drum set, a large bass amplifier, minimum of 2 additional guitar amplifiers, up to 6 guitars, a soundboard, 2 PA speakers on stands, a latpop computer and usually a subwoofer. We have cases for all gear and supply cases where we have repair requipement and consumables. It is prefereable that there is an area designated for the items that is close to the performance area so that any potential hiccups can be addressed efficiently. A 15A power circuit is sufficient to run our basic setup, our lighting is LED and does not consume much power. For events larger than 250 people we may require additional power depending on the situation.
