Overview
From the winding backroads of New York’s Catskill Mountains crawls Psychedelic Hillbilly Punk duo Blood & Stomach Pills. No drummer needed in this outfit as each member mans rhythm and melody simultaneously. Heron Furtwangler plays guitar and sings while stomping on a kick drum and hi-hat, and Sierra plays her keyboard while banging on snare, tom, and cymbals with bursts of theremin and vocals.
Capturing the attention of teenagers and oldsters alike, they perform an exciting, dynamic show that is unique but relatable in sound to appreciators of underground rock’n’roll of all generations.

What to expect
Blood & Stomach Pills is a unique experience. With both members playing multiple instruments at nearly all times, and with both sharing timekeeping duties, it is a singularly original approach to a band's presence that has been described as "instantly engrossing." There is a lot to watch between these two musicians, but the music also stands on its own merits. Steeped in small, DIY punk venues and educated by innovative, influential underground music from artists such as The Velvet Underground, Captain Beefheart, Tom Waits, and Butthole Surfers, while incorporating elements of Country and Americana, they have developed a distinctive, original sound that is all their own.
About
From the winding backroads of New York’s Catskill Mountains crawls Psychedelic Hillbilly Punk duo Blood & Stomach Pills.
Though their music is still steeped in the aggression of the small town punk rock shows where they met some 30 years ago, time has grown their tastes and influences so now Blood & Stomach Pills draws comparisons to The Handsome Family and Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band. Capturing the attention of teenagers and oldsters alike, they perform an exciting show that is unique but relatable in sound to appreciators of underground rock’n’roll of all generations.
In the years following the lockdown, Blood & Stomach Pills has been playing selectively, and mostly away from their local area while working on their most ambitious album yet, conceived as a 13 track double disc dedicated to death and impermanence. As these songs are completed in the studio, B&SP are looking for opportunities to perform their new songs and expand their fan base.
Recently, Blood & Stomach Pills has been working on booking their first coast to coast tour, set to happen in September 2026. Additionally, Blood & Stomach Pills is proud to announce their acceptance into the Rattlesnake Cables Artist program. As longtime users of Rattlesnake Cables, we are proud to represent the best instrument cables made!
Additional booking notes
Blood & Stomach Pills' drum kit is split between the two members: Sierra plays keyboard with theremin, floor tom, snare and cymbals, and Rev plays guitar while sitting and playing kick drum and hi-hat. Both members do vocals as well.
Because of the setup, B&SP frequently bring all of their own equipment and position themselves at the front of the stage rather than split up a venue provided kit just to have to put it back together.
Members are equipped to run guitar, keyboard, and theremin direct to a PA with amp simulators or DI boxes, and carry amps as well to use as needed.
In total: 2 vocals, Guitar (direct or amped), Keyboard (direct through DI*), Theremin (direct through DI*), drum kit
