BlackTree Photographie

When I show up to an event, I arrive at least one hour early to check out the scene and to photograph the outside and other aspects of the venue. I also make sure I have correct lighting and my camera is set up fully before any event. During the event, I move around through the crowd, getting different angles of the guests and attendees.

BlackTree Photograpie is centrally located in Carson City, Nevada. It is owned and solely ran by Penny Jennings, the Photographer.

I followed the Northern California Racing Fairs for my Photojournalism class. My cousin works as a Trainer/Farrier/Owner there and I was asked to follow a professional and record them for my Photojournalism class. I packed up my car and left Fullerton, Nebraska and headed straight to Sacramento, California. School was extremely easy to attend. If I could not get a connection in a tack room, where I lived for about a year, I would just head to the nearest McDonald’s or Taco Bell. You ca always get a connection there. I suggest investing in an inverter for your car. It was the best $30 I ever spent!

Though the class only lasted 5.5 weeks, the journey lasted a little longer…about a year.

I let go of my school for a little bit so I could work on the racetrack. Man was it it a frustrating and life-changing experience (for the good). It helped me learn about myself and helped me realize what my strong points were. I worked so hard I lost 20 lbs while working on the tracks in California (Sacramento, Fresno, Santa Rosa, and Stockton).

I designated my home base in Stockton for a year while I was on the racetrack and now I have finally settled in Carson City, Nevada. I love this place. I am so close to North and South Lake Tahoe. Right now, this is the spot. I have become an extremely happy person here and am becoming successful in my ventures. A lot of opportunities lie for me here.

I have been interested in photography since high school, when the teacher handed me a camera and my pictures actually turned out alright. I let it go for years until I realized I did not remember much of my life, so I picked up a camera again and I started getting creative. I am embarrassed for anyone to see my early work as it is, well….embarrassing. ha!

There are so many stories to tell and so much more has happened along my journey. This is just one of the pieces I like to share.

I can bring some lighting if needed to do personal portraits. I do require somewhere to plug in my equipment. I also will provide a backdrop and setup for a semi-traditional style photo booth with traditional Photo Booth pictures. There is an extra charge for the Photo Booth..
