I reached out to Big Fun looking for a second line band but noticed that they also offered DJ services. I didn't see any reviews for the DJ part so I sent an email asking about that. The response I got from Abby was prompt, detailed, and honest and made my wife and me want to hire her immediately. She said that she is the one that does the DJing but had been focusing on promoting the second line bands so hadn't had time to get anything up yet. If that's still the case, let me be the first to give Big Fun's DJ services a "10 out of 10 would absolutely recommend hiring" review! Communication during the hiring process was quick and once that was out of the way all we had to do was wait for our date to get closer. Then Abby sent us a questionnaire about the music we would like and other details she should know about and that was that! She provided a mic and amplification for our service, acted as our MC, and when it was time to start dancing she kept the floor packed the entire night. Once she finished the Big Fun second line band took over and our guests still haven't stopped talking about them! It was the highlight for so many people and the perfect way to end our perfect wedding.

My wife has a lot of family in New Orleans but we don't live there so having Big Fun be such a big part of our day really made our wedding feel authentic and like a New Orleans wedding should. I don't have a single negative thing to say about working with them. If you're looking for a DJ, second line band, or both, you've got to go with them. They'll give you a reception you and your guests will never forget!

BIG FUN Brass Band made my 50th birthday one for the books. From Abby’s top tier customer service to the Grand Marshal’s stellar performance, and talent and showmanship of the brass band, it was more than I expected! Just superb. I hired Big Fun Brass Band for a 2ndline parade in the French Quarter to celebrate my brother's bachelor party this past weekend. It went perfectly--including surprising my brother--and they delivered a lively and engaging performance!

I also found their planning process very user-friendly. I didn't know much about New Orleans or how 2ndline parades work. They were very responsive and flexible, and they walked me through the whole process. They handled the police permitting, as well.

What a great addition to our daughter's wedding celebration. The second line was an absolute blast, and the band 's performance helped make it an unforgettable day. A standout moment of the day for everyone was undoubtedly the second line parade. Abby was instrumental in a seamless coordination of all the moving parts of our second line. She secured the permits and the chaperones. It added an extra layer of excitement and charm to the celebration, and our family and friends couldn't stop talking about how much fun they had. We used Big Fun Brass Band for our wedding Second line and they were INCREDIBLE!!! My wife is from New Orleans and I am from Texas, I have never seen or experienced a second line and Big Fun gave the experience of a lifetime. We worked with Abby from start to finish and she was great to work with. She handled all the permits, police escorts, and route for our 200 person second line!! They even showed up early before the second line began and played music for the guests as everyone prepared for the parade. Big Fun Brass Band did our wedding on Nov 4, 2023. They absolutely blew our expectations out of the water. We went to our wedding ceremony, did the thing, then hopped on the bus to the reception venue. (Windsor Court Hotel in our case.) The band announced us and then went into our first dances. Then we went into the party, and it was incredible. They were LOUD and FUN and just everything we could possibly have wanted. They were incredible it reading the room and playing hit after hit after hit. They handled our on-the-fly requests with no issues whatsoever, and sight read a couple of oddball requests that we threw at them as if they had played them 100 times. I was absolutely cracking up when I asked them to play LSU fight song 'Neck,' and they (quite appropriately) told me 'yeah, we can do that but we have to hear this from your wife before we do.' When she ran up and said go for it, the room went absolutely electric. Everyone was out on the dance floor tearing it up, hands in the air, yelling along. They were fantastic.

Probably my favorite thing was how they weren't just standing up there playing. They were dancing along and clearly just having a blast with it. They brought in all kinds of cool lighting and loud speakers for announcements and when they took their (well deserved) break. They weren't just a wedding band, they were part of the party in all aspects. Everyone was expecting three or four people playing music in the corner of the room, and when they walked in to ten musicians with brass instruments, keyboards, and a drumset, everyone was floored. They filled the entire venue with fantastic music, handled announcements very well, and were just so pleasant and professional to interact with the entire time.

As we hit the end of the reception, everyone just wanted more. The band announced that it was time to go downstairs to the ground floor, and our coordinators and event staff helped usher everyone out. They played our last dance over the speakers for us as they quickly cleaned up and headed downstairs, and we met them down there to kick off the second line parade that they also hosted for us.

The second line was phenomenal. They handled everything from route planning, to permitting, dealing with NOPD, taking care of payments, coordinating with hotel staff. All we had to do was walk downstairs and lead the band to Lucy's. I kept telling my wife we needed to walk slower because I didn't want it to be over yet. I must have stopped and told her at least ten times: "This is so f---- cool!" It was awesome watching everyone make their way down the street the next day on the snap maps from the various kind strangers that recorded it from hotel balconies and whatnot. Standing in the middle of the intersection of Tchoup and Poydras with red and blue lights flashing all around us, listening to something like eight brass instruments play was magical.

When we arrived outside of Lucys, the band hung out for a bit and played in the street as we got everyone into the bar. All the people on the balcony were dancing and singing along as our wedding group made their way in. It was an incredible experience.

BFBB’s familiarity with local culture and understanding of how to handle everything and work with our reception venue, coordinator, NOPD, were invaluable and definitely noticeable. They exceeded our expectations in every possible way and most certainly proved their name over and over throughout the night.

I hired the Big Fun Brass Band for my engagement party and it was the highlight of the night. The communication with Abby was great and everything went smoothly. The band, and the additional entertainment --stilt walker and juggler-- showed up a few minutes before their scheduled appearance and when it was their time to perform, they didn't disappoint. One of our favorite parts of our wedding was Big Fun Brass Band! Everyone loved them!!! From our ceremony music to our secondline to our reception, they made our day. These guys were great! Such nice gentlemen, punctual, and professional! I was hosting a group of 9 girls and it was such a treat to get that New Orleans vibe in the courtesy of our own home during these times of covid. They were a terrific band and even came with a playlist to keep the party going while they took a short break! They were so fun and were exactly what i was looking for! The Big Fun Brass Band really live up to their name. We had a small wedding in nola, most of us were from out of town and the big fun brass band made everyones experience fun and amazing. The band was very prompt, open, professional and great with communication all throughout the planning process. David Will was my main contact and he explained everything and answered all my questions. The nand was on time for our wedding march throght the french quarter. They were friendly and listened tome and played the songs we requested. They are also very skilled and talented. My guest's said it was the most fun they've ever had at a wedding and are still talking about it. I hired these guys to do a trade show and play from my booth. The trade show organizers thought it was odd but allowed it. Turns out, it made my booth the hit of the evening. We only hosted three of the member, Tuba, Trumpets, and Banjo, but they put on a great show and sounded amazing for the whole event. We received several comments on their performance. We hired the Big Fun Brass Band for our annual Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras party at Lucy Buffett’s LuLus at Homeport. We needed a band last minute and fortunately they were available and obliged. Big Fun Brass Band were extremely professional, easy to get in contact with, they have a rain or shine policy in their agreement, and best of all they are just a fantastic band.

We arranged a small second line parade for 7 people for our friends' bachelor party weekend in NOLA. And he was blown away at how much fun the whole event was. We were able to keep it a surprise and when Big Fun showed up, dressed to the nines (in the extreme heat too), and started playing our groom-to-be was flabbergasted.

I highly recommend booking Big Fun for any of your events. People were lined up all long the streets of Bourbon and Royal dancing, taking photos, and joining in the fun.

Thought the band was great, did a great job. The only issue was that the parade only lasted 30 mins when we had paid the band, police escorts, etc. for an hr. I know this is probably not the bands fault, but it was pretty dissapointing that we really didn't get out money's worth. I asked one of the band members if they could continue playing and I believe they weren't allowed to because the cop escorts had left. Not sure what the deal is or where the blame should be pointed, but I think that should be more clear in the future.

Big Fun Brass Band played a show for us at a party we hosted for about 40 friends. Their energy was amazing and people were dancing for their entire 3 hour show. The band was professional, courteous, and showed up on time. They played amazing music and took requests from the crowd. Other than coming highly recommended online on various sites, one thing that drew me to Big Fun was that unlike other bands I looked into, they were willing to be flexible with the number of band members in order to fit our budget. Corey was extremely helpful and patient with my neurotic bride brain when it came to planning the event. The day of the event, the band was punctual and energetic and really got all our guests (and strangers on the street for that matter) into the spirit of things.
