Ben Stitzel Jazz Piano

If you hire me, I can create a group that fits your needs. You could have anything from light background piano to a full multi-piece jazz band. In any scenario, I'll play a mix of jazz, blues, and pop. I am also happy to take requests.

I am able to provide my own instrument, PA system, and microphones. In some cases, clients also ask to use my mics and PA for other purposes during the event, which is always an option.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio and relocating to St. Louis, MO as an adolescent, Ben was exposed to one of the country's most vibrant jazz scenes as a young musician. As he progressed, Ben brought his music to some of the best venues in St. Louis, including The Municipal Theater, Sheldon Concert Hall, and the Fabulous Fox.

Ben released his first album, "Cartographer," in 2019, featuring solo piano arrangements of jazz standards and original music. He subsequently released "Electronic Improvisations, Vol. 1" in 2020, consisting of improvised solo electronic music. His most recent release is the full-ensemble jazz album "We Get There When We Get There," released in 2024.

In 2025, Ben concluded a national tour as pianist with "The Million Dollar Time Machine," a theater show paying tribute to some of rock's greatest artists.

Ben received a bachelor's degree in Music Education from Webster University. When he isn't playing, he works as a Music Production Engineer for MakeMusic, Inc.

Staging requirements are dependent on your needs and how many musicians you need me to bring. If I am playing solo piano, I only need a small footprint, about 6'x6' would be plenty. If you need a duo, trio, or small group, the space needs will increase accordingly. In any case, I will need access to at least one 120v electrical plug somewhere close to the performance space.

I can bring my own instrument and PA, but I am also totally comfortable playing a house piano or using a provided PA, if available.
