Belén

Belén Hernández began her musical training in Argentina with Maestro Gustavo Guersman in Tucumán and Maestro Luis Roggero in Buenos Aires. She earned a degree in violin performance from the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán and performed with its youth symphony orchestra before joining the Orquesta Sinfónica de Salta in 2007 as a full-time violinist.

In 2010, she received the Tarr Award scholarship to attend Carson-Newman University, where she completed a BM in Music Theory (2014). She was recognized with the Presser Scholar Award, the W.D. Hudgins Leadership Award, and was named Outstanding Music Graduate. She was also inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda, Alpha Chi, and Omicron Delta Kappa.

Belén later earned an MM in Violin Performance (2016) and a Doctor of Arts in Violin Performance with a secondary emphasis in Orchestral Conducting (2020) from the University of Northern Colorado. Her dissertation focused on Argentine composer Luis Gianneo. She also served as Graduate Teaching Assistant to Dr. Jubal Fulks.

She has performed with numerous orchestras and chamber ensembles, including the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra, Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, El Paso Symphony Orchestra, Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra, Ohio Light Opera, Colorado MahlerFest, and Symphony of the Mountains.

An experienced educator, Belén has taught privately and in schools across Argentina, the United States, and Germany. She served as orchestra director at Horizon Middle School in El Paso, Texas, where she built a new program that earned Superior ratings at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest. Most recently, she taught violin and viola at the Kreismusikschule Kaiserslautern and coached the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Kaiserslautern County. She is currently teaching and performing in South Central Texas.
