Overview
I grew up around music all my life. At the age of 11 I attended the art school based in Downtown Oakland called Oakland School for the Arts. Between 6th-12th grade I was trained vocally in various genres such as musical theater, jazz, classical, and Capella arrangements. While there, I learned other musical skills such as the ability to write, arrange, and read music scores. I combined my knowledge of music with my natural talent and taught myself to play piano and read piano scores. Although I am continuing my areas of study with sociology and communications, I still follow what has been there all my life, which is my love for expressing myself through music.

September 9, 2025Good voice.
Bb had a nice positive attitude for the wedding celebration. There was some technical difficulties with the equipment but she did her best to deliver the songs.

March 10, 2019A perfect choice
We were seeking someone to provide live background music for a large 70th birthday party (50+ guests) at our home and wanted someone who could play piano, and sing a mix of gospel and jazz, for a total of three hours (with appropriate breaks). Bb turned out to be a perfect choice. Several weeks in advance, she suggested a playlist to us and we refined it with her, working back and forth through various ideas. She arrived prepared, played, and sang beautifully and interacted warmly with us and our guests. An added bonus was when she offered to sing an a-capella "Happy Birthday", which she jazz-improvised. It was priceless!

What to expect
When I sing and play a piece of music, I try my best to not only connect with it from a musical standpoint, but from a listener's perspective. I want to captivate my audience yes, but I want them to feel and fully comprehend the message in the music...
Music is a form of communication, it's a form of healing and relating to others. So when asking what to expect from me as a performer, all I can simple say is I devote my soul to the music and the listener.
About
A graduate of Oakland School for the Arts, Bianca (BB) Brown has grown up surrounded by music. While at OSA, she was vocally trained in various genres including R&B, musical theater, jazz, and classical music. She took what she learned there and combined it with her natural ear for music to teach herself piano. Outside of singing and piano, BB gained an affinity to beat-boxing, composing, arranging, voice impressions, and production. Up until May 2022, she took her craft seriously and self-produced and played every instrument on her first project, a 5 track EP titled "Is Anybody Home?"
BB has performed at various venues around the Bay Area, including Oakland City Hall, The Fox Theater, and at the top of Salesforce Tower. She is currently doing shows with community based organizations around the Bay Area, private events, and Sofar Sounds. Whether she is singing published music or something she has written herself, BB believes in the power of music to heal and relate to her listeners and uses her music to communicate to the world around her.
