July 13, 2018Latin Funk Rock Players
James has a great attitude coming into an established Latin Funk Rock Band playing mostly original music. He has a system enabling him to hook up with intricate parts, vocal and solo grooves, tight beginnings and endings of the music and becomes an integrated player. BAUTISTA Band players find him a force with our three piece Percussion Section and adds smooth bass lines to our Rythym Section.

July 11, 2018SOLID!
James and I have worked together in many situations from casuals to recording sessions. He has a broad understanding of music and it's various styles. His playing is neither to flashy nor too plain. Just the perfect amount of playing depending on what the song calls for. His attitude is great. You can tell he knows a lot about music but doesn't talk down to you or make you feel inferior. Just a solid player with a great attitude and approach to music making.

July 11, 2018James Walker/Bass player
I am a SF local bay area drummer and I've had the pleasure of playing with James several times. He is a solid groove bassist with lots of great chops. Competent in many genres and great sounding gear. Pleasure to work with. Big thumbs up!

July 11, 2018Professional and Knowledgeable
James is the quintessential professional. I have played with James a number of times over the past year and every gig he continues to amaze me. His technical skill and musicality are impeccable and he is always open to trying new things. He is incredibly knowledgeable on gear and has a top notch rig as well. I recently went into a high end studio in San Francisco to record and James was my bassist of choice and completely nailed every take. If you need a bass player that kills it on every level then James is your man.

May 2, 2018Excellent bass player with a great attitude
I hired James to play with me at a wedding rehearsal dinner in Sonoma in early April. Aside from being a stellar musician, James is just a great guy, easy to communicate with and very professional. He learned every song I sent to him and was even able to pick up what I was doing on the spot. Highly recommended.

What to expect
Over-preparing is a baseline. I can read and do well on-the-fly but as it is said "the best impromptu speeches are planned well in advance." When I have a song list and video tracks I'll be sure to come prepared to play them.
About
Started with classical piano and moved to fusion jazz. Finally came around to rock and pop. I pretty much like everything that grooves. I'll always start with playing songs note-for-note since it was produced once, right?
Additional booking notes
My Aguilar amp and speakers are modular so I can play from quiet to loud. I'll bring everything needed to make it work.
