I am a musician and I perform vocals, violin, and miscellaneous "strummy" instruments in different projects: original and standard Pop with the Aya and Tano Collective, a separate act of Balkan+Greek+Turkish also with the Aya and Tano Collective, Balkan Brass with Sarma Brass Band, Balkan+Latin with Taraf de Locos, and World Electro-Folk with Romantique. We perform for weddings, parties, festivals and other types of private and public events.
As a Tarot consultant, I read with both the Jodorowsky version of the Tarot de Marseille deck, and the Smith-Waite Centennial deck. After studying under Blue June and Brian Oaster of Catland in New York City, I have designed my own method of reading.

Aya Safiya is a Bay Area born USA bicoastal singer, songwriter and violinist.
With a hauntingly beautiful voice, she captivates her listener and puts her audiences in a spell.
Aya's original music transcends genre, with influences including; Adele, Gillian Welch, Hozier, and Lauryn Hill. She has both a smokiness that elicits a nostalgia of old world folk and blues and a refreshing sweetness that pays homage to today’s pop. Through her songs, Aya hopes to express her truest self and connect with others with shared emotions.
Aya also has a rich background in world music—especially traditional Greek music, which she has studied for 21 years. She has made numerous trips to Greece to study with master vocalist Katerina Papadhopoulou, as well as violinists such as Nicos Chatzopoulos and Nikos Oikonomidhis.
Growing up in the World music scene of the Bay Area, Aya started her performance career at age 15. Currently she performs Greek and other World music with various groups including: Agapi Mou (regional Greek), Café Aegean (Greek x Turkish Café), Romantique (World Electro-Folk), Sarma Brass Band (Balkan Brass), Taraf de Locos (Balkan x Latin), and The Aya & Tano Collective (original and standard Pop | traditional Italian, Balkan, Greek, Turkish, and American old-time/bluegrass).
As a Tarot consultant, Aya reads with both the Jodorowsky version of the Tarot de Marseille deck, and the Smith-Waite Centennial deck. After studying under Blue June and Brian Oaster of Catland in New York City, she has designed her own method of reading.
