The band begins to play an upbeat tempo with a tune, possibly hymn, and the Second Line begins to form.
The Main Line breaks out into a lively waving of handkerchiefs. The umbrella, carried for protection from the sun, becomes a festive symbol. Exuberance is sensed within the parade of Second Liners, permeating and influencing those passersby waving handkerchiefs and carrying umbrellas- a symbol 2nd line festivals. Paul Vogler - Percussion
Paul is the owner of Atlanta Event Music performing with Atlanta Jazz Trio, Atlanta Steel Pan & Island Music, 2nd Line Atlanta, Atlanta Crawdaddies and Radio Kings. He has appeared on the bill with Ziggly Marly, Santana, Percy Sledge, Spyro Gyra, Dr. Billy Taylor, T.S. Monk, Jr., The New York Voices and other well known regional & national artists. Paul is a percussion major with a Masters in Music and a former college instructor teaching Jazz studies, Electronic Music, World Music & percussion. He brings amazing energy to public and private events of all sizes throughout the Southeast.
Paul Newkirk - Bass, Guitar, Vocals
Paul can be seen routinely in performances as a jazz vocalist with Atlanta Jazz Trio, Atlanta Steel Pan & Island Music Band & Atlanta Crawdaddies. He has appeared on the bill with: Santana, James Brown, Kathy Matea, Al Green, Spyro Gyra & Peabo Bryson and has opened concerts for Joe South, B.W. Stevenson, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, The New York Voices and Percy Sledge. Paul has been compared to artists such as James Taylor and Paul Simon delivering a warm, engaging & energetic stage presence. His versatile 300+ song repertoire appeals to a wide variety of audiences.
Kim Williams - Piano
Kim currently performs the Atlanta Jazz circuit and with Atlanta Jazz Trio. He has appeared on the bill with Spyro Gyra, New York Voices, Billy Taylor, John Faddis and Freddie Cole.
He was a concerto soloist with the Atlanta Community Orchestra, 1st place college state winner of the Georgia Music Teachers Association competition and a Pro-Mozart Society scholarship competition winner.
Leigh Anne Bass - Vocals
Leigh Anne can be seen in performances with Atlanta Jazz Trio, Atlanta Crawdaddies, The Radio Kings and The Wheels. She sings a wide variety of pop, jazz, blues and new orleans funk. She has performed numerous events/venues in California and Atlanta including recently at Colony Square, Duluth Festival pavilion and Blind Willies.
Dan Manning - Guitar, Vocals
Over three decades of teaching and performing, Dan has shared stages with many greats including Carlos Santana, James Brown and Percy Sledge. He has performed at literally thousands of private events, concerts, night clubs, and recording studios. He enjoys many pop styles (rock, jazz, blues, and country) as well as classical guitar.
Larry Gettemy - Keyboard, Saxophone, flute
Larry is an amazing musician with an excellent presence on stage. He performs a variety of instruments and music genres with over 30 years of experience keeping the party going.
