From time to time, I play bodhran and sing.
I play music from many times and many lands on WAY too many instruments! I provide instrumental and vocal music from the Medieval and Renaissance eras to the modern era, and delight audiences with “that crazy-looking instrument” (the historically-accurate hurdy gurdy) as well as my double bowed playing technique on the psaltery. I also play flute, pennywhistle, bodhran, pianonomicon, and whatever else I can get my hands on - and I sing, too!
I can add historical flair to your wedding, party, or other event, or just provide traditional modern favorites on unique instruments.
If I need to travel more than 20 miles from Austin, then my travel fee is $1 per mile.

She then played for our cocktail hour and taught our guests a group dance! It was so fun, everyone was smiling and raving. She is amazingly talented.

If you need background music, I can provide lots of pretty instrumental music which will be interesting but not too jarring for the event attendees. If you'd rather have more of a spotlighted act, I can provide lots of relaxing and rousing music, including some fun traditional vocal songs. For a more interactive event, I can also teach several Medieval and Renaissance dances to your attendees/guests, and then play the songs while they dance the dances. I can also provide an educational show (equally appropriate for children and adults, and tailored to my audience) on historical instruments, music, and a bit of fashion.
I've been interested in music for pretty much my entire life, going all the way back to my first music lessons at age 2. I took piano lessons until I graduated from college, and then taught music for a few years before becoming a full-time performer. I have played at many Renaissance faires, gaming conventions, and Steampunk events. I have equal passions for historical music and original geeky songs (I have released a geek album and two historical music albums!)
I need enough light to clearly see the strings on my psaltery (if I'm playing it). If the space is big enough to require amplification (which I don't normally use), then I will need a microphone (or two, if I'll also be singing). I have an onboard pickup and the required cables for my hurdy gurdy, but the flute, bodhran, pianonomicon, and whistle would need microphones.
