What to expect
## What You Can Expect From Me
Whether I am photographing your event or creating portraits for you and your family, my job is to make the process feel organized, comfortable, and easy—and to deliver photographs that truly matter.
### As Your Event Photographer
Before your event, I take the time to understand what is important to you: the schedule, key people, must-have moments, branding needs, and the overall feel you want documented. I arrive prepared, professional, and ready to work with your team—not add to their workload.
During the event, I am attentive without being intrusive. I know when to step in for an important group photo, and when to stay out of the way so real moments can happen naturally. I watch for the energy in the room, meaningful interactions, details you worked hard to create, speakers, guests, and the moments that tell the full story of the event.
You can expect me to be reliable, flexible, and aware of what is happening around me. Events move quickly, so I stay ready for the moments you planned and the ones no one could have planned.
### As Your Portrait Photographer
For portraits, I will guide you through the entire experience—from planning the session to choosing the photographs you love most. You do not need to know how to pose or worry about whether everyone will cooperate. That is my job.
I create a relaxed environment where you can be yourselves. I will give you clear direction when it helps, but I am always looking for the natural expressions, laughter, connections, and little in-between moments that make your photographs feel real.
My goal is not simply to give you a gallery of files. I want to create portraits you will be proud to see on your walls, share with the people you love, and keep as part of your family’s history.
In either setting, you can expect experience, personal attention, straightforward communication, and a photographer who cares about getting it right.
About
I’ve been a professional photographer in Los Angeles since 1991, and I still believe the most important photographs are the ones that become more meaningful with time.
At Dan Scott Fine Portraits, I photograph families, children, high-school seniors, professionals, and the milestones that deserve more than a quick snapshot. My goal is to create portraits that feel genuine—images that show the personalities, relationships, laughter, and love that make your family yours.
I know many people feel nervous in front of a camera. That is completely normal. My job is to make the experience easy, relaxed, and even enjoyable. I’ll guide you when you need it, give you room to be yourselves, and watch for the real moments in between the poses. Those little moments are often the photographs people treasure most.
Over the years, I’ve learned that a great portrait is about much more than lighting and technique, though both matter. It is about noticing a child’s expression, the connection between siblings, the pride of a parent, or the confidence of a senior ready for the next chapter. I bring decades of experience to every session, but I never forget that this is your story—not mine.
I also believe your photographs should be part of your life, not lost in a phone or buried in a folder online. I create finished wall portraits, albums, and heirloom pieces designed to be seen, shared, and enjoyed every day. The goal is to give you something lasting: a reminder of who you were together during this particular chapter of life.
I’m based in the Los Angeles area and serve families and professionals throughout Woodland Hills, West Hills, Calabasas, Tarzana, Encino, Sherman Oaks, and surrounding communities. In addition to family and portrait work, I photograph professional headshots, personal branding, and corporate events through American Image Gallery.
Whether you are celebrating a new baby, gathering the whole family, documenting your child before they grow up, marking a graduation, or updating your professional image, I would be honored to create photographs that matter to you now and will matter even more years from now.
Get ’em before they’re grown and gone.

Photography Services & Technical Requirements
I provide professional photography for corporate events, conferences, galas, brand activations, headshots, family portraits, children, and high-school seniors. I work with available light whenever it serves the event or portrait best, and I bring professional camera, lens, and lighting equipment to handle a wide variety of locations and conditions.
For events, I typically need:
A current event timeline, venue address, parking/load-in instructions, and the on-site contact’s mobile number.
A list of must-photograph people, speakers, presentations, sponsors, VIPs, or moments.
Access to the event space before guests arrive when room details, décor, branding, or staged group portraits need to be photographed.
Reasonable access to the stage, speakers, and key activity areas. I work discreetly and coordinate with event staff, production, and venue teams.
If the room is very dark, a dedicated portrait area, step-and-repeat, sponsor wall, or executive headshot station is needed, I may use off-camera flash and light stands. A small clear area and access to standard electrical power are helpful.
Advance notice of special effects such as very low lighting, colored uplighting, haze, strobe effects, projection-only stages, or restrictions on flash photography. I can work around these conditions, but knowing ahead of time helps me plan properly.
For portrait sessions, I can photograph on location, outdoors, in your home, office, or another agreed-upon setting. Natural window light is often beautiful; when needed, I bring portable lighting to create polished, consistent results. For studio-style portraits or headshots, I need a clean area approximately 10 × 12 feet, a nearby standard power outlet when available, and enough time for setup.
I do not require sound, staging, or a formal production setup for ordinary photography coverage. For large events, multi-room programs, elaborate lighting plans, executive headshot stations, or high-volume guest portraits, I am happy to coordinate in advance with your producer, AV team, venue, or planner so coverage runs smoothly.
