I specialize in ambient aerial performances. This could mean a variety of different options for your needs but essentially I am not offering choreographed "pieces" at this time. All of my current choreography focus is being dedicated towards applying to circus school! What ambient can look like is open to your imagination and our collaboration - I could be adding ambiance off to the side of your event, I could be the central focus set to your music, I could be teaching adults and kids how to safely attempt some small aerial feats, I could even be pouring your guests champagne upside-down!
Mx first found their passion for aerial arts and contortion in early 2017 after signing up for a class on a whim. Their heart was captured and as their passion grew they began performing independently and with Asheville Aerial Arts! They have trained, taught, and performed all over the US. Some highlights include performing and teaching at Burning Man, performing with the Surreal Sirkus, completing Womack & Bowman's Airise program in L.A., and bringing a wow factor to street festivals, weddings, and parties across WNC!
They are certified to teach beginners through advanced aerial silks, sling, lyra, trapeze, and rope and would be happy to teach mini-lessons at your event in addition to any performance needs you may have. Though Mx is most passionate about silks, they are versed in an array of apparatuses (listed above) and also regularly train contortion and love flexy, bendy poses in the air!
Typically my time is divided into sets over the event. I often do three 7-minute sets over the course of an hour, although this can be adjusted to fit your needs!
We will need to discuss rigging and ceiling height and determine whether renting a freestanding rig or hiring a rigger to attach an aerial point to the ceiling is the best option. Low ceilings? That's usually not a problem! While it may hinder aerial silks and rope, lyra and sling can be done with less vertical space.
For a freestanding rig relatively flat ground is required. This could be indoors or outdoors, though I will not be able to perform in the instance of rain or lightning.
There will be additional fees required for renting a rig or hiring a rigger, but those will have to be determined on a case-by-case basis. I insist that I either find or approve the rigging and the rigger as my life is in their hands! But don't worry, I can find those folks and that equipment for you.
