Overview

Garland Owens is first an educator then a balloon artist. He uses his entertainment skills to encourage courtesy and respect. Having worked more than thirty years in social work, mostly with children, has given him insight with youth to generate comfort. Before he earned his degree in Psychology from Drury, he taught himself circus skills (juggling, unicycle, balancing, rola-bola) He used his circus skills in the treatment of the youth in his care. Teaching kids skills they thought they could not do raises self respect. With his clear and clean instruction, many learn to juggle in 15 minutes. Twisting balloon figures opens up another world of education and entertainment possibilities.

Always Start With One by Garland Owens

The children at High Pointe Elementary were a lot of fun. Many of the chidden were creatively interactive with the building of their balloon sculpture. (a part I encourage and enjoy) Basic social courtesies were the norm demonstrated by the respect shown to me and my equipment and supplies. The PTO offered an excellent solution to what is usually the toughest part of these high volume gigs, and that is shutting down of the line without disappointing anyone. They offered to extend our service agreement until all were served. This provided me with the comfort of leaving only satisfied customers. Then I had the sweetest group of students help me carry all my equipment to the van in one trip. It is indeed one of my most enjoyable gigs of the year.
