Garland Owens is first an educator then a balloon artist. He uses his entertainment skills to encourage courtesy and respect. Having worked more than thirty years in social work, mostly with children, has given him insight with youth to generate comfort. Before he earned his degree in Psychology from Drury, he taught himself circus skills (juggling, unicycle, balancing, rola-bola) He used his circus skills in the treatment of the youth in his care. Teaching kids skills they thought they could not do raises self respect. With his clear and clean instruction, many learn to juggle in 15 minutes. Twisting balloon figures opens up another world of education and entertainment possibilities.
Garland did a super job! The ladies loved his balloon twists!
Costume was not what I was expecting. Should have asked for a pic before booking. Lesson learned. Also it was kind of awkward as he climbed up my kids playground & went down the tube slide which is not made to allow for that weight. I wouldn’t even let my 10 yo nephew go down it! However, he was very punctual & did a very short notice 30 minute time change due to some main guest’s late arrival.
Response from Always Start With One by Garland Owens:
Thanks for your candid review of my Easter Bunny's visit to your home. I do indeed find your comments useful and I will in the future send a photo to the planning family so they can see it is not the standard giant headed dime store Easter Bunny they might be expecting. My Bunny, as with my other presentations, is designed for close interaction with children. During my interaction with children I find they are usually thrilled if the character plays on the equipment that the child is so familiar with.... laughter from the children is usually their response. I did not realize the tube slide I went down was in disrepair and I greatly apologize, I will indeed be more conscience of that sort of thing when on future gigs. I do appreciate the through communications we had as we planned around that flexing start time. I was glad my other gigs that day allowed me such flexibility.
Hoping you got some memorable photos despite your initial disappointment,
Garland did such a great job with all the kids and was fun to have under our tent! We will definitely use him again with future events!
Kids loved it! He could make them anything they wanted. Such fun, can't go wrong here!
We had Garland come to our sons third birthday party. It was a blast! He had balloons ready to go and spent a solid hour entertaining the kids and taking requests. Even the adults were joining in. If you want a great experience make sure you go for Garland! We plan to have him back when our little guy is older for some Number fun!
Garland never fails to provoke mirth and merriment at our annual party, and we want him to keep coming back. Talented, smart, gentle, and genuinely funny. He teaches kids as he entertains them, and the adults, too. He juggles! He unicycles! He does both at once!
Garland is the most talented person I have ever met. When I saw him perform in a parade riding a unicycle and juggling and still managing to sign "hi" to me I was suitably impressed. Then his performance in A Christmas Carol was enough to win me over on his talent. I would highly recommend him to everyone and there is nobody who will work harder to entertain and please!
