About

Allen Fredrick is a dynamic vocalist, as well as guitarist, keyboardist and harmonica player, whose style is rooted in R&B, blues, rock, and jazz.
He was keyboardist and singer for the Hoodoo Rhythm Devils (Fantasy Records) for two years where he played many club and concert dates in the San Francisco Bay area. He left the Hoodoos to join Maria Muldaur (Midnite At The Oasis) as musical director, keyboardist and singer. He performed with Maria for five years touring throughout Europe, the U.S. and Canada. He was Harmonica player for famed bluesmen Yank Rachel (She Caught the KATY) and Sleepy John Estes (Diving Duck Blues). He has also performed with Bonnie Raitte, Elvin Bishop, Dan Hicks, Paul Butterfield, Big Mama Thornton, The Shirelles, Chubby Checker, The Drifters, Jules Broussard, Zigaboo Modeliste, and Cab Calloway. He has extensive live performance experience, having played internationally for large concerts, showcase clubs and television, including the David Letterman show.
He holds a bachelors degree from Indiana University where he studied jazz improvisation from renowned trombonist David Baker, electronic music from composer John Eaton and composition from composer Iannis Xenakis. After college and in Indianapolis, he studied voice from Helen Tyner and guitar from the now deceased acclaimed jazz guitarist Maestro Paolo.
He then relocated to California where he studied piano from Duke Ellington arranger William Mathieu and from jazz pianist Si Perkoff. He became a faculty member at Family Light Music School where he taught privately as well as workshops and seminars in Music Theory, Improvisation and Songwriting.
He recently returned from Central America where he worked in a world class recording studio as a producer, engineer, singer and voice-over artist for television and radio commercials. While in Central America, he was the featured artist for concerts as well as musical engagements at hotels and tourist resorts. At present, he resides in the San Francisco Bay Area where he plays at all the top hotels for corporate, and other, private special events.
In addition, he is a composer and has recently completed a Mass in SATB arrangement with keyboard accompaniment. He is also a songwriter and his CDs, on the dognpony record label, entitled “Between the Lines” and “Cover All The Angles” are collections of his original compositions.
