He has had the fortune of performing at venues like the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage, Strathmore AMP, Blues Alley, The Arts Barn, An Die Musik Live, and Franklin Park Arts Center.
Recently, Alfred Yun was selected as an Artist-In-Residence at Strathmore for the year 2024.

The guests at my party loved it. You could fly somebody in from New York or London but I don’t think you’d like them more than Alfred and Andrew. We were very lucky to have them.

Alfred was wonderful to work with. On very short notice he was able to work with our needs. We wanted a Bollywood piano playlist. Alfred worked to adapt songs that weren’t originally written for piano. He is so talented! He was able to create his own sheet music and alter existing sheet music to better fit the songs that we wanted. Our guests were blown away! It was absolutely magical.
Alfred was the perfect choice for our cocktail hour. Definitely would recommend him to anyone looking to elevate their event.

Mr. Yun was a fantastic hit. The event was extremely important to me because it was for my daughter. Mr. Yun not only played skillfully but tailored the songs to fit the occasion wonderfully well. My daughter admitted actually crying on one of the songs he played. I will absolutely recommend Alfred for any event that is to be done with grace, poise, and remarkable professionalism. May 5, 2026Outstanding jazz quartet with a full repertoire
We wanted to hire a jazz band to play our bar mitzvah from 6pm until 10:30 pm and specifically needed musicians who were comfortable with the bop/cool/modal standards - the theme for the evening was "jazz supperclub" ala The Blue Note. After discussing our vision for the evening with Alfred, he recommended we go with a quartet for a full sound and repertoire variety and let me choose the band's makeup. He assured me not only was he familiar with the music we wanted played, but was a Monk expert - and he's not exaggerating. Alfred is a phenomenal musician and the bassist, saxophonist and drummer in his quartet were just as skilled. They kept the music going all night (we had a DJ during band breaks) and played our favorites and special requests that we had provided in advance. Alfred was easy and quick to communicate with, the musicians he works with have the chops and the passion, and our guests were wowed. I would definitely recommend him, and would love to hear him play again sometime!

Alfred Yun’s music is always exciting and groovy. A fan of his trio once said, “it’s jazz with a kind of punk rock aesthetic!” One can expect to hear Thelonious Monk, Stevie Wonder and Chick Corea in their performances. Alfred Yun brings the same passion and energy to ballads, distilling the excitement into grace and warmth, channeling great pianists like Keith Jarrett, Fred Hersch, Hank Jones, and Bill Evans.

About
Alfred Yun was honored to be chosen by the Music Center At Strathmore as an Artist-in-Residence for the 2024 season. This includes featured concerts at Strathmore’s prestigious AMP club in January and participating in programs throughout the season.
