Alan Early trio/quartet
Overview
Very professional jazz group led by sax/flute player with guitar or keyboards, bass and optional drums (depending on acoustics and budget). We play at many local restaurants and bars and also for private parties.
We can play hundreds of songs from the Great American Songbook.
My website at saxjazz dot com has some music audio and video.

August 26, 2025Great Music
Great music and great, friendly people. Happy to have had Alan and his quartet at our event. Though we did have some complaints about loud banter during our speakers, we appreciate their flexibility and time at our event.

March 24, 2024Super Talented Jazz Band
Alan Early Trio was an absolute pleasure to work with and so talented. We held a Gatsby themed auction and the Alan Early Trio could not have been a more perfect addition to the evening. Thanks so much for everything!

Alan Early trio/quartet
Thanks so much Sarah, we had to look in the archives a little for some of the music, but it was great to play in the environment where everyone was dressed in style for the party!

February 15, 2017A class act, really made our party special
I enjoyed working with Alan Early and the rest of his quartet. They made my parents party special. They were professional, friendly, affordably and talented. I can't say enough good things. If you need a jazz band - they are fantastic!

What to expect
We are a sophisticated and very professional band - we will not play loud but will provide a perfect atmosphere for you cocktail party or some swinging dance music for your wedding or other social event. Just picture some mellow sax and flute playing along with some very melodic guitar and bass and you will get the idea!
About
Alan has played music all his life, and was fully professional for 10 years. During this period, Alan toured the world and played in night clubs, stage and pit bands, and for countless recording sessions.
Alan has backed many famous artists, including Petula Clark and Jose Feliciano, and played with such jazz greats as Herb Ellis, Jimmy Smith, Blue Mitchell and Astrud Gilberto.
Since settling in Northern California some time ago, Alan has been busy playing with a variety of combos large and small, including his own quartet, several big bands and orchestras (including Full Spectrum, Swing Solution, Joe Ferrari, Generation Gap and Bill Travis), and backing a variety of vocalists.
Alan now lives in Sonoma, and is very active with his own group and other large and small groups in the area.
Additional booking notes
We don't use a PA - just need outlets for bass and guitar amps.

Influences and inspiration
Stan Getz and other great sax players influence my own playing, and the group is a kind of throwback to great lounge bands of the 50's.
