About
Alain Almeida is a seasoned Cuban vocalist and performer whose career spans over two decades of contributions to salsa and timba across Cuba, Latin America, and Europe. He began his professional journey at just 16 years old with SELLO LA, as a singer in the group led by Luisito and Alexander Abreu—sons of the legendary Luis Abreu of Los Papines. His early work includes the 1999 album Tranquilo y Sin Lío, which led to an international tour through Sweden, Spain, Finland, and Denmark, alongside the Cuban Television Ballet, Los Papines, and under the artistic direction of Carlos del Puerto.
Alain's powerful voice and stage presence earned him roles in some of Cuba’s most celebrated bands, including La Charanga Forever and La Bola with Michel Maza. In 2002, he joined Robert Armas y Los Conquistadores de la Salsa, marking the start of a new chapter in Lima, Peru. Since then, he has become a key figure in the Peruvian salsa scene, performing with top orchestras such as Aconquistar, D’Farandula, A1 Banda, and Barbaro Fines y su Mayimbe.
In 2013, Alain launched a new solo project with La Constelación de Cuba, releasing the album Pa’ Lante y Con Fe—a vibrant and collaborative production that also spotlighted up-and-coming Latin artists. In 2017, he co-founded Los Mayimberos with former members of Mayimbe, a project that ran for two years until the global pandemic.
Following the pandemic, Alain returned to his solo career with renewed energy and creativity, releasing original music with a fresh international sound. In 2021, he performed at the Chimpum Callao Festival in Milan, Italy, reaffirming his global appeal in the world of salsa.
Currently based in the United States, Alain Almeida performs weekly in major cities across the country, including New Jersey, Los Angeles, Miami, Las Vegas, and Texas, captivating audiences with his powerful voice, infectious stage presence, and deep connection to his Cuban musical roots.
