Adjacent Cruise

We are a husband and wife music duo performing acoustic original Americana music as well as selected cover songs on vocal, guitar and piano. We also perform with our additional musicians on drums, bass, saxophone, guitar, etc. We have over 15 years of performance experience separately and we have been playing together as Adjacent Cruise since 2015. Adjacent Cruise is a merge of different musical styles and culture. Singer-songwriter Shannon Richardson on lead vocals and guitar, has strong influence from blues, raggae, country, folk, pop and many legendary rock n’ roll musicians. His songwriting style and vocal performance are often compared to music by Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz and Sublime. Classically-trained musician Yuen Yee Richardson, born and raised in Hong Kong, currently living in Chicago, on backing vocals, piano, clarinet and saxophone, admires many of the classical masters and contemporary composers, from Baroque to modern.

The two musicians of contrasting musical styles and background came together and formed Adjacent Cruise, which aims to share similar interests while bringing differences together. Adjacent Cruise also collaborates with other musicians and artists of different styles and culture, from time to time, sharing their passion and appreciation for a great variety of music and art forms.

Actively performing since 2016, Adjacent Cruise has performed at many local music venues, bars and restaurants, cafes, music and art festivals, neighborhood and community events as well as fundraisers and private events. Adjacent Cruise recently released their 20-track Debut Album “Light as a Feather, Heavy like the Sun” in September 2019.

We have all the equipment we need to play a performance for both indoor and outdoor, big or small events. Also have battery powered equipment for remote sites. Additional charges for gigs that require us to bring large equipment.
