Overview
Ada is a trained dancer who choreographs and performs 1920s "flapper" Gatsby-girl routines, 1950s dances, retro tropical showgirl dances, and more.
She also teaches fun and simple burlesque-inspired routines for girls' nights, bachelorette parties, and other celebrations.
We also provide costumed greeters and atmosphere performers to give gifts, greet, or take photos with guests - or even just to roam the party or dance among guests.
Ada Lavender is the founder and director of The Vintage Vixens. She's been a company member of Hot Pink Feathers in San Francisco and Kiss Kiss Cabaret in Chicago.

Ada was fantastic. She was a professional, start to finish. She communicated well before the event, we coordinated the times/dates/details. She arrived early, was well prepared, beautifully dressed to perform/teach. She got everyone involved, made it fun and the whole crowd was laughing and dancing and having a great time. Ada and Katie were pure awesomeness! they've rocked the house for our 1950's theme party. It was a blast having them perform their dance and teaching the group a little on how to dance to 50's tunes and hang out with us afterwards. What to expect
For group numbers, a set generally ranges from 1-3 songs. These can be choreographed or not, and can even involve the audience. A common set involves perhaps 2 choreographed songs, and then a freestyle song where we go into the audience and encourage them to dance with us, or even conga line around the room! Please note that pricing is done by the number of songs in the set, rather than clock time.
For group dance classes (I've done burlesque-style girls' nights, family-friendly line dances like the hokey pokey, and '50s-style solo moves...just to mention a few!), these are generally in the shorter range (maybe 30-60 minutes), but longer workshops like 1.5-2 hours might be needed for girls' nights, which involve costume pieces.
We show up anywhere from 30-60 minutes before showtime so that we can change into costume, warm-up, and see the space. This helps everyone get acclimated and gives us a chance to check the sound, see where we'll be entering the space, and take note of anything that we might need to keep in mind (like carpet where we weren't expecting it, steps up to stage, large speakers in the dance space, etc.).
About
As a performer, I have been dancing nearly my entire life. I have been a company member of both Hot Pink Feathers in San Francisco and Kiss Kiss Cabaret in Chicago. I have been a soloist at the Windy City Burlesque Festival, the NOLA Nerdlesque Festival, as well as multiple other solo and group performances.
I am the director and choreographer for The Vintage Vixens, a group that performs (or appears in costume) for everything from 1920s to 1970s-themed events. We specialize in 1920s Gatsby-style flapper dances, but we also have performed as 1950s poodle skirt girls, 1960s and 1970s gogo dancers, and retro tropical-themed showgirls.
Sometimes my dancers and I perform choreographed numbers, sometimes we teach some fun dance moves, sometimes we greet guests at the door, pose for photos, and/or roam a reception to provide atmosphere - and sometimes, we do all of those things at an event! I can handcraft a quote for you, built with your specific needs in mind.
In addition, I regularly contract other dancers for additional solo and group performances, such as swing dancers or belly dancers.

We provide music (via email or phone playlist), but client must provide a means of playing and amplifying music.
Performers require a fully private changing area to change into costume and leave their belongings during the performance. This should not be a public bathroom.
