"ActionBEAR!" is fun to say (try it! say it seven times, you won't be disappointed) and ActionBEAR! is even more fun to watch. Jess loves long form more than cake and Derek respects short form more than himself, which led to melding the two into one fearlessly fluid form. The Duo's favorite blend is to present a monoscene peppered with lines written by the audience and drawn at random.
ActionBEAR! Improvised Comedy from Colorado Springs, CO is a labor of love for Jessica Schleiger and Derek Knight, attention whores by trade, who have been performing together for over 3 years. The duo is proud to have been an official selection of the 2015 Idaho Laugh Fest, the 2015 Colorado Improv Festival and the 2015 Antelope Valley (CA) Improv Comedy Festival. As a duo, Jess and Derek have had the good fortune to learn from amazing teachers such as Mark Beltzman, Jimmy Carrane, Armando Diaz, David Razowsky, Susan Messing, Rachael Mason, Kerstin Caldwell, Matt Need, Sam Gordon and more. They perform as much as possible at the Voodoo Comedy Playhouse in Denver and will travel pretty much anywhere to make people laugh.
Requirements: House sound and lights with dedicated operator, backstage/green room area available for use by performers at least one hour prior to scheduled showtime until 1/2 hour past scheduled show end time, refrigerator or cooler backstage with bottled water available to performers, bar tab if bar is available.
Improvised Comedy - The show begins with the host (either Derek or Jessica) interacting with the audience to generate information, then scenes based on the information starts. From these scenes, the performers will break out into other scenes or games requiring differing levels of audience participation and interaction.
