Since 2003, Whit McMahan has been portraying President Abraham Lincoln in character and is a life member of the Association of Lincoln Presenters.
Being a Lincoln impersonator/actor appears to be his divine gift, since he was interested in Lincoln, making trips to his birthplace, long before he ever began to resemble him. Through his storytelling, he has entertained audiences from ages 2 - 92 at senior living centers, schools, and Civil War events. Through his research of Lincoln’s character, mannerisms, and voice, Whit presents his character in his own special way.

April 17, 2026MR McMahan gave a talk with stunningly authentic feeling to it. He not only looks like MR Lincoln his speech and demeanor gives the feel of MR Lincoln.
We also had him go talk to local school children; he wowed the lower grades and impressed the 11th graders.
I HIGHLY RECCOMEND HIM FOR YOUR EVENT

October 20, 2025Big thanks to this amazing portrayer! We got him to come to our friend's Bachelorette party, because she didn't want any of the "traditional" Bachelorette things. So, we thought this would be a funny and weird thing to do! And it was! Abe came in, gave a great speech, with relationship advice based on his relationship with Mary Todd, and finished with the Gettysburg Address! We all had a good laugh at the out of the box idea and Abe was so open and gracious to do something probably very much outside of what he normally does. If you'd like a random and funny experience, with some knowledge thrown in, I could not recommend more!

May 28, 2024What a wonderful day we had with a great rendition of “Abraham Lincoln” and his wife “Mary” spending the day with our elementary students. From costume to presentation, our stents were mesmerized.

May 27, 2024I hosted Mr. McMahan’s Lincoln portrayal for my residents at The Villages of Murfreesboro Senior Living Facility. Not only was I blown away by his performance but my residents have not stopped talking about how much they enjoyed it as well. It not only met, but exceeded everyone’s expectations and was quite frankly worth every penny. We will definitely be booking Mr. McMahan again.

For ONE SCORE and THREE YEARS, I have been bringing the Sixteenth President back to life through his wisdom and humor. "Life of Lincoln", my adult program, includes a story of President Abraham Lincoln's life through the war years and tragic end at Ford's Theater. I have designed my adult talks to entertain, educate, and motivate listeners. I will also add period music and patriotic decor. My children's presentations are adapted for age four and up, including an illustration of period homemade toys.
Since my childhood, I have been an admirer of the Sixteenth American President, known as the Great Emancipator. Born in the old county of Jefferson Davis' birth in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, I made stops throughout my youth at Abraham Lincoln's birthplace near Hodgenville, Kentucky whenever our family visited the region. I'm not sure why I liked to visit so often, but it seemed like a nice, serene place.
yet the story doesn't end here ...
After receiving my college degree and growing a beard in 1991, I began to be teased about my actual resemblance to the former President. My destiny as a presenter then seemed written in the stars. Over a decade later, I began developing a speech dressed in character as Lincoln, which I presented on Independence Day, 2003. The following year, I joined the Association of Lincoln Presenters and became a lifetime member of that organization.
I have portrayed President Lincoln in first person for audiences of ages 2 to 92. Throughout the years, I have visited retirement centers, schools, battle fields, libraries, and more.
I generally do my presentations on Mondays and Tuesdays, with Saturday as a backup day. However, I can also accommodate other schedules if arranged in advance. I generally present in Middle Tennessee.
No stage required, just a large gathering area.
Sound system furnished.
Patriotic decor furnished (34 star flag, fans, garland).
Need a table (5-6 feet in length) to set up my display of materials.
Need private access to the area 1:15 minutes early in order to set up.
Need someone to read an introduction and press a start button on my audio unit to begin the program music. I will provide the introduction and operate the music during the program.

I use recorded period music during my presentations. The songs I typically include are:
Gentle Annie (Stephen Foster)
Dixie's Land
Hail to the Chief
Lincoln and Liberty
Ashokan Farewell (20th century)
Johnny Has Gone for a Soldier
Battle Cry of Freedom
God Bless America (20th century)
I have been inspired by the many members of the Association of Lincoln Presenters, an organization of men and women dedicated to bringing Abraham and Mary Lincoln to life.
I have made over 245 appearances, including 85 senior living centers, 19 conventions, 25 festivals, battle re-enactments, libraries, political party rallies, and schools.
