Watching Charmaine bring Harriet Tubman to life for the seventh-grade students at Malone Middle School was an unforgettable experience. From the moment she stepped into character, the room fell silent. Students were completely captivated, hanging on every word as history unfolded before them.
Rather than simply teaching facts, Charmaine invited students into Harriet Tubman's world. We have had the pleasure of welcoming Charmaine Crowell White to present to our Girl Scout troop in Washington, DC, on four separate occasions for girls ranging in age from 6 to 17. Most recently, she portrayed Harriet Tubman during Women’s History Month, and it was an unforgettable experience.

Through her powerful performance, Charmaine brought Harriet Tubman’s story to life with passion, authenticity, and energy. She helped the girls gain a deeper understanding of slavery, courage, resilience, and the vital role women played in shaping American history. Her presentation painted a vivid picture of what life was like during that time while inspiring meaningful discussions about freedom, leadership, and perseverance.
