The Best Tejano Performers for book in Columbus, OH

Tejano music is a vibrant genre rooted in the Mexican American communities of South Texas. It blends Mexican musical traditions with influences from country, rock, pop, and other styles, often featuring instruments like accordion, bajo sexto, bass, and drums. Tejano performances can range from traditional conjunto-inspired sets to modern bands with a polished, dance-ready sound.

The cost to hire Tejano performers depends on factors like the number of musicians, performance length, location, and production needs. A full Tejano band with multiple musicians and professional sound equipment typically costs more than a solo act or smaller ensemble.

Tejano music is a natural fit for weddings, quinceañeras, birthday parties, festivals, cultural celebrations, and community events. It can also bring plenty of energy to corporate events, fundraisers, private parties, and other gatherings where you want guests on their feet and enjoying the music.

Many Tejano bands perform a mix of traditional favorites and more contemporary songs. Some may also incorporate cumbia, conjunto, norteño, or other Latin music styles into their sets. When booking, ask about the band’s repertoire to make sure their musical style matches the atmosphere you have in mind.

Accordion and bajo sexto are two instruments strongly associated with traditional Tejano music, while bass, drums, guitar, and keyboards are also common. The exact lineup varies by band, so you may find everything from a small acoustic group to a full ensemble with several musicians.

Some Tejano musicians accept requests, while others prefer to stick to a prepared setlist. If you have a special song, family favorite, or must-play tune in mind, ask about requests before booking. This will ensure that the band has plenty of notice to prepare a song they don’t regularly perform.
