1Wave DJs is a premier wedding and event DJ company delivering reliable service, high-end audio, and unforgettable dance parties. Owner AJ Smith, a certified Audio Production Specialist (Mesa Community College) and U.S. Navy veteran, built his career on large-scale events. He worked as a stagehand and audio tech for T.I., NBA All-Stars, Super Bowl, Lady Gaga, Bon Jovi, Elton John, Kid Rock, Diana Ross, Eric Church, and more. After years in Phoenix, he returned to Michigan and ran audio/visual at Interlochen Center for the Arts. AJ has performed hundreds of different events, birthdays, weddings, proms, clubs, festivals, and residencies. DJ Guro Cathy has been with us for 3 years. We deliver!

Awesome / Energized and Highly Recommended

AJ - Set the mood for a Roaring Twenties / Great Gatsby party completing a perfect balance transitioning from period to modern dance music. His was charismatic and energized the room so the guest felt at ease and wanted dance and have a great time. He arrived and set up early, going above and beyond to help make this a successful event... I would highly recommend AJ and the 1Wave DJs for any event you may be planning.

Mr. Save the Day

AJ was a wedding hero! Due to some really bad wedding planning on our part, we didn't have ceremony music until 2 weeks before our wedding... We reached out to 1Wave with not a lot of time before the Wedding day, he quickly responded and got us going. He had so many helpful documents that made planning our wedding music easy. But really what made this a 6/5 star experience was on the day of the wedding he jumped in and helped us with our dinner music and MC'ing some items post wedding (this was not originally planned, but really a huge help).

Helpful notes if booking 1Wave DJs: They're super professional and well organized, you won't have to sweat on your event day. Once booking with them, you will have a little homework to make sure your preferences are noted, then they will have a prep call with you following that bit of light work.

About

AJ Smith Personally as Your DJ & MC20+ years performing as an entertainer from Sasebo Japan to Baltimore Maryland, building stages for touring with major artists (Lady Gaga, Bon Jovi, Elton John, Diana Ross, Kid Rock, Jethro Tull, Interlochen Center for the Arts, Rhino Staging, earning my Audio Production Certificate 2012 from Mesa Community College. Learning from the best in Tempe at Club Red, operating lights for Jeff Loomis and bands like Agent Orange or Michael Schenker's screaming guitar. I was able to learn the golden ears of sound from Patrick and revisited later as a lighting and sound production tech at Interlochen. 7 Rock and metal bands as frontman, Kin of the Zen, Kronie...etc drummer, you can find the EP and LPs on Spotify, songwriter and recording artist with Andy Seagle and at CRAS Conservatory using SSL and Neve technology. He recorded Johnny Cash and Paul Mccartney. Promiscuous records was our studio, performing with Prophet 7;13 at Uncle Monkeys, to moving up with Frequis and Kin of the Zen (stagehand experience from US Airways Arena in Phoenix, to the Cardinals stadium, to downtown setting up for walk the moon and the roots during the superbowl) + local WTCM radio personality—charismatic, crowd-reading energy guaranteed.

Additional booking notes

We offer sound reinforcement using Turbosound and QSC speakers, Traktor, Pioneer controllers, 15-18insubs and a light up facade. Additional uplighting is available, as well as generator rental. We can put on a party from 40 to 400 people. Additionally, we offer rack lights and lasers including haze to bring your party to life!
