1Wave DJs is a premier wedding and event DJ company delivering reliable service, high-end audio, and unforgettable dance parties. Owner AJ Smith, a certified Audio Production Specialist (Mesa Community College) and U.S. Navy veteran, built his career on large-scale events. He worked as a stagehand and audio tech for T.I., NBA All-Stars, Super Bowl, Lady Gaga, Bon Jovi, Elton John, Kid Rock, Diana Ross, Eric Church, and more. After years in Phoenix, he returned to Michigan and ran audio/visual at Interlochen Center for the Arts. Awesome / Energized and Highly Recommended

AJ - Set the mood for a Roaring Twenties / Great Gatsby party completing a perfect balance transitioning from period to modern dance music. His was charismatic and energized the room so the guest felt at ease and wanted dance and have a great time. He arrived and set up early, going above and beyond to help make this a successful event... I would highly recommend AJ and the 1Wave DJs for any event you may be planning.

AJ was a wedding hero! Due to some really bad wedding planning on our part, we didn't have ceremony music until 2 weeks before our wedding... We reached out to 1Wave with not a lot of time before the Wedding day, he quickly responded and got us going. He had so many helpful documents that made planning our wedding music easy. But really what made this a 6/5 star experience was on the day of the wedding he jumped in and helped us with our dinner music and MC'ing some items post wedding (this was not originally planned, but really a huge help).

Helpful notes if booking 1Wave DJs: They're super professional and well organized, you won't have to sweat on your event day. Once booking with them, you will have a little homework to make sure your preferences are noted, then they will have a prep call with you following that bit of light work.

About

We have been in the wedding business for 4 years now, and playing in night clubs, bars, parties all over Northern Michigan. AJ Smith Personally as Your DJ & MC20+ years performing as an entertainer in different ensembles. From serving in the Navy in Sasebo Japan to recording music videos in Baltimore Maryland, building stages for touring with major artists (Lady Gaga, Bon Jovi, Elton John, Diana Ross, Kid Rock, Jethro Tull,) working for Interlochen Center for the Arts, Rhino Staging, earning my Audio Production Certificate 2012 from Mesa Community College. Learning from Patrick in Tempe at Club Red, operating lights for Jeff Loomis and bands like Agent Orange or Michael Schenker's screaming guitar. My ears are trained to hear frequencies. Over 7 Rock and metal bands as frontman or drummer, Kin of the Zen, Kronie...etc , you can find the EP and LPs on Spotify. Also songwriter and recording artist learning from Andy Seagle at MCC in Mesa, and also recording at CRAS Conservatory using SSL and Neve technology. Andy recorded Johnny Cash and Paul Mccartney using a mobile service and started the program at CRAS. My friend Rego at Promiscuous records was our hang out studio, performing with Prophet 7;13 at Uncle Monkeys, to moving up with Frequis, plus (stagehand experience from US Airways Arena in Phoenix, to the Cardinals stadium, to downtown setting up for walk the moon and the roots during the superbowl) I am a local WTCM radio personality from the mytunes segment—charismatic, crowd-reading energy guaranteed. DJ Guro Cathy is also with us now and is making a name for herself as a fun outgoing and focused performer. Contact us today for your big event!

Column speakers, with brand names like QSC, EV, JBL, and Mackie. We use Allen and Heath, Yamaha Mixers, with full range systems and EQ. Shure Wireless microphones. We also include wireless lighting, and special effects like disco ball and haze. Our sound system can be set up to include coverage from 70 to about 3000 people. Power requirements 20amp circuit 120 v Generator 2500w minimum

Influences and inspiration

I listen to a variety of hard rock / metal, hip hop, edm, house, drum n bass, latin, jazz, classical, music in many forms. Megadeth is one of my favorite bands and Soundgarden, but I am also a fan of Dr. Dre, and James Hype. I enjoy the Dave Brubeck Quartet, and Mozart. I have seen many performances by different artists so they all paint the picture that is 1Wave DJs. I have also studied world cultures in music and been to southeast asia so I have seen tradition Filipino Dances as well.
