FundraiserMike and I attended an old time Southern gospel quartet singing at our Church, Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, and it was grand. The Unity Quartet is the name of the group and they had harmonies and old time church music favorites. Their medley of Cross songs and This Old House were my favorites! Definitely worth the time and money to hear this group perform and they kept us entertained between all the songs as well!

Overview

About

Dan (Danny) Adkins has been married to wife Kathy for 23 years. We have two daughters, Kristen who is a pitcher for Georgia Tech University and Hayley who is a catcher for Chattanooga State. Both girls are on full athletic scholarships. Son, Nathan Adkins of Scottsboro and one grandson, Daniel Adkins also of Scottsboro.

I started singing at age 5 in churches around North Alabama. I sang with my Mother, Gladys and my sister, Linda and we were known as the Adkins Family. We were regulars on local radio on Sunday mornings. I sang with our family until I left to serve in the US Army in 1986. After completing my tour of duty in the Army I began singing with The Chosen Generation our of Chattanooga, TN. I later joined the Alabama Crossmen and held down the lead position until 1996 when I was relocated to Dallas, Texas. I spent the next 12 years coaching my girls and many others in a softball club that Kathy and I founded, Texas Glory. We now reside in the town where Jesus was born (except in Georgia) which is Bethlehem, Georgia. We are a suburb of Atlanta, GA. I work for Flowers Foods and manage a 9 state region in the Southeastern US.

I am so happy to be back with the guys, I am looking forward to getting reacquainted with so many of our friends from years gone by. I can be reached at danadkins01@cs.com and also on Facebook or Twitter.

Randy Whitten - Meet our boss Randy Whitten! He is definitely one of a kind. He sings the best baritone around, drives The Eagle, manages the group and best of all, bosses us around and does a great job at all of it. The only person that he doesn't get to boss around is his beautiful wife Jeanie.

Randy and Jeanie have been married for 31 years. Randy says it has been the best 31 years of his life. Like the rest of the quartet, the wives and husbands met during a singing, the same goes for Randy and Jeanie. Although Jeanie doesn't sing now, she teaches Sunday school and is the nursery coordinator at The Gathering Church Of God in Scottsboro, Alabama. They have two daughters that are married and six grandchildren. The greatest thing is both of Randy's daughters and their husbands are in full time ministry themselves. Randy gets his musical talent from his parents. What a legacy!

Randy has sung since he was fourteen years old and sung in many quartets, many of which he founded himself. He has many other gifts, playing keyboards and the bass guitar, just to mention a few.

Doyle McLain - Doyle is definitely the old man of the group, but the Lord has blessed him with a deep rich voice, good health and the ability to go. He sang in his first quartet at the age of six with his brother and two cousins and yes, he sang bass.

He has sung with The Journeymen, Happy Melody Boys, The Alabama Crossmen and Closer Home. He is now delighted to be with The Unity Quartet. Doyle loves to be a blessing with laughter and loves to give praise to the Lord.

Doyle comes from a long line of preachers in his family. He is thankful the Lord let him sing instead of preach. He loves the Word of God and has read through the Bible several times. God has really enlightened him through prayer about scriptures in which he needed understanding. Doyle and his wife, Mary reside at Hytop, Alabama.

James began singing as a boy at High Point Baptist Church on Sand Mountain. He has sung with The Gospel Starlites from Snead, AL, The Gospel Sounds from Boaz, AL, The Evangelaires from Gadsden, AL, The Psalmsters from Albertville, AL and with Pure Harmony, a family group.

He and his wife, Darlene, have four married daughters and ten grandchildren that are reall grand. Darlene supports him in his singing ministry and is at his side most of the time.

James is an active member of his home church, Rose Road Church Of God in Albertville. He is the choir director, plays the bass guitar for the choir and has been very active in children's ministries in the church.
