About
Safiyeh is a bellydance artist who relishes marrying her interests; art, dance, music, theatre and teaching and expressing herself through an blend of Classic Egyptian, African and even a bit of modern dance styling and years of dance training, thus creating a soulful and dynamic stage presence wherever she performs. Safiyeh first discovered bellydance while taking fencing classes at the local YWCA. The dance classes were held in the adjacent studio and she found herself absolutely intrigued and captivated by the music, whirling veils and gorgeous, lush movements. It was not until an injury while training for a marathon and doctor’s orders to do something “more gentle” to stay in shape, that Safiyeh began researching area teachers. It was love at first move for Safiyeh when she entered Lotus Niraja’s bellydance classes and it has been her passion ever since. Safiyeh has studied with master teachers including Lotus Niraja, Antonia, Naimah, Latifa, Zahra Zuhair, Sahra Saeeda just to name a few and has danced for prestigious events and shows, and has danced with the Lotus Niraja Dance Company, Naimah’s Troupt Amandari and currently works with her own dance group Nile Queen.
Known for an innate ability to express music through her beautiful energy, Safiyeh moves audiences with a reverent and personal expression of this glorious and ancient dance form. She is a adored and sought after for her joyful style, having performed in restaurants and for festivals, gala events, weddings and parties as well as intimate gatherings. Safiyeh delights bringing events to life with her enthusiasm and love for the dance as she captivates her audiences through an effortless and unique translation of Middle Eastern music.
