Why hire Robert Wagener?

I play finger style guitar, a collection of the finest covers and sprinkling in some original songs with instrumentals mixed in as well. Genre's include bluegrass, folk, country, light rock, gospel upon request. In addition to the acoustic guitar, I play electric jazz guitar, piano, trumpet and mandolin, often more than one instrument at one setting.

I've been found playing all sorts of gigs, weddings, wineries, coffee shops, restaurants and outdoor events as well as nursing and assisted living centers where I do a 'stroll down memory lane' set of originals, covers, sing-alongs,gospel and movie and tv theme songs.

Wedding CeremonyShort version: Responsive, personal, talented, an astonishing repertoire, prompt, professional, adaptable/flexible (so important!!!), least-stressful aspect of the wedding planning, and worth more than his going rate!
Playlist selections: the Beatles, Tom Petty, and a lovely, acoustic version of "Such Great Heights" (Postal Service - Iron and Wine)
Long version: I found Robert about three weeks before my wedding, and miraculously managed to secure this very busy musician. We had a 30 min garden wedding. Robert played an hour before the service, the processional and recessional, then for another 30 minutes after. He has an impressive repertoire, which made everything so simple and stress-free. We provided a list our of favorite musicians and song requests and Robert immediately responded with confirmation. For any particularly important songs, such the processionals, he promptly provided an mp3 recording of his performance. Even if he had never played the song, he took a day (or sometimes just a few hours) to learn it, and then send his recording. Our last minute requests were taken in stride; Robert learned new songs two days before the wedding! On the big day, he arrived hours before required and the setup was smooth and stress-free. I can't emphasize enough how wonderful it was to know that I did not have to worry a second about the ceremony music and logistics. I walked up the "aisle" WAY too fast and Robert had to significantly cut the bridal processional. This was a shame b/c his version of Angel Dream (Tom Petty) was incredible... but he totally took it in stride and stayed cool despite my obvious anxiety. I would absolutely recommend his musical services to anyone!!!

Response from Robert Wagener:
Colleen, Thank you for the kind words, it was a real honor to be part of your big day. Blessings to you both as you start your lives together. Robert

Wedding CeremonyRobert was nothing less than wonderful. From his amazing guitar skills, to his soulful voice, and wonderful personality, I am convinced we could not have found a better match for our wedding last weekend in St Charles, MO. Even the venue complimented his tactfulness and sound. Robert helped to personalize our ceremony and really became a friend in the process. Felt blessed having he and his wife witness and help with our wedding!

Overview

About

I performed for years as a jazz trumpeter first, then an alto sax, Kenny G wannabe for a few more, before picking up the guitar, discovering fingerstyle music and wanting to become Chet Atkins! I am a member of Clinton County Songwriters, East Side Songwriters and Cahokia Songwriters and am active in each, performing in Songwriter Showcases and hosting the East Side meeting monthly

I come from a musical family; father was a pastor of a small church and everyone old enough had to know how to play SOMETHING; piano, guitar, tamborine, spoons if need be! That background led me to the brass section later in life, then to wood and steel, guitars primarily, and that's where I am today.

I have played venues of over 2000 but prefer small, intimate groups, where you can talk and share and see people smile and laugh. My favorite venues are weddings, anniversaries, patio gigs, wineries, assisted living centers and nursing homes and have recently trained to play for hopspice patients in homes and nursing facilities.

Instrumental options include acoustic and electric jazz guitar, piano, trumpet and mandolin.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll consider me for your next event, Peace, Robert
