Motor City Revue: Capturing the Distinct Motown Sound
A little more than half a century ago, a new sound took shape in and around Detroit that revolutionized the music industry. Today, the all-star Motor City Revue faithfully recreates that signature Motown sound, and, in the process, takes audiences on a journey back in time to where it all began.
Although there are many bands that cover Motown tunes, few strive to match the vocal harmonies and instrumental mix that distinguished the original recordings. Motor City Revue was formed to offer music lovers an authentic tribute to the artists and songs that defined a generation.
Vocalist Layonne Holmes and Bassist/Musical Director Gerald Carboy enlisted some of Jersey's A-list musicians to respectfully pay homage to this world renowned sound.
Motor City Revue will have you dancing and singing along to the songs immortalized by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, The Supremes and countless others.

The members of Motor City Revue have impressive music industry resumes that include performing and recording with some of the biggest names in show business.

In studio with Fernando Saunders of the Lou Reed Band, Vini Lopez of Steel Mill, the late Danny Federici and Bill Chinnock, Steve Delopoulos and John DeGrazio of Burlap to Cashmere, Matt O'Ree and The Soul Project.

Toured Europe with Kevin Eubanks (former bandleader on The Tonight Show), Dee Dee Bridgewater and the Chris Hinze Combination.

Studied music theory, arranging and composing with Maestro Julio C. Malatesta and improvisation with jazz saxophonist Anthony Bertolotti.

Co-wrote two Billboard hits: New Pair O' Shoes (1978) and a funk disco cover of The Drifters' Dance With Me (1980).
Recorded a contemporary Christian CD, This Ain't No Big Bang with Bob Marsiglia which can be heard on YouTube, three gospel CDs with George Sykes/SIII & The Truth and several radio commercials.
Also performed live with Stevie Wonder, Darlene Love, Carl Anderson, Jeanie Bryson, Tim Curry, Holiday Express, Gary Tallent for Jersey Artists for Mankind (J.A.M.), Allison William, Dorothy Norwood, Phoebe Snow, Vicki Sue Robinson, Gary U.S. Bonds, Southside Johnny, Bruce Springsteen, Rob Thomas, Jon Bon Jovi and Bernard Purdie.
