Why hire Miss Sweet Tea?

Miss Sweet Tea is from South Carolina, born and raised! She's performed burlesque in the Big Apple, the city by the bay, as well as at in her home state at the 2011 Charleston Burlesque Festival. Her background is in theater, gymnastics, and of course some good ol' southern hospitality.

No matter what the occasion, Miss Sweet Tea can bring just the right mix of sweet and sultry for a variety of events--birthdays, bachelor/bachelorette, cabaret nights, band performances, and more. With some great pieces in her repertoire, she can arrive for last-minute gigs, or she's more than happy to cater to ya'll and your theme for the evening.

Private PartyI hired Miss Sweet Tea to perform with me at a private party that I was contracted for. Miss Sweet Tea brought wonderful and creative ideas to the table, completed all tasks and deadlines promptly, and was an absolute joy to both work with, and watch her wonderful and exciting performance. I highly recommend contracting her services for any event. She will not disappoint!

Bar/LoungeMy name is Christine Jovan. I am the Co-Owner and Operations Manager for Diabla Productions in San Francisco. We put together shows that feature local musicians, dancers, comedians, acrobatic performers, and much, much more to provide LIVE entertainment to promote community.

We recently had a Valentine's Burlesque Show at 50 Mason Social House in SF and worked with Sweet Tea. She was one of our featured Burlesque dancers and part of our success was due to working with professionals such as her. She was wonderful to work with by arriving on-time to the rehearsals and meetings and the evening of the performance.

We loved her unique style and storytelling approach to her dance routine. From the moment she glided on stage she captured the essence of her character and had people mesmorized. She embraced all aspects of flirty, fun, and sensuality.

Diabla Productions highly recommends her as a performer and are looking forward to having her become a featured dancer in our future productions. In fact, we hope to feature her in our next performance of SPRING FEVER in May 2012. For details, please visit http://www.diablaproductions.com

Overview

About

Miss Sweet Tea here--you can just call me T, if you'd like. I was born and raised in South Carolina, but I'm no country bumpkin! I've spent some time at Bowery Poetry Club and Gibson Guitars in NYC, 50 Mason Social House in San Francisco, and the South of Broadway Theater in Charleston, South Carolina, just to name a few!

I've been performing burlesque for a year and half now. I have polished acts that I can bring to your event, or if you'd prefer I can create a piece/pieces for it based around the theme. Contact me and we'll see what we can set up!

FAQs:

Why should I have burlesque at my special event?

Burlesque isn't just stripping, it possesses a rich history of glitz and glamour, and is currently experiencing a revival. Men and women alike enjoy burlesque because, at its heart, it celebrates the beauty of the body. So whether it's a birthday party, an anniversary, a reunion, or anything in between, burlesque is a lively way to make an event truly stand out.

How do you determine your rates?

To start, I consider how many acts I'm doing for the event. From there, it depends on the gig and what you're looking for in particular. If I'm creating a special act for a themed night, this involves a lot of costuming and time spent choreographing. I also take into account the amount of time you'd like me to stay at the event, transportation/location of event, and so forth

What can I expect if you're at my special event?

Before, in between, and after my pieces, you'll be sure to find me mingling with guests! And when I'm dancing, you can expect all eyes to be on me. If it's an event for someone special--say a birthday guy or gal, or someone getting married--you can look forward to them getting some extra special attention during my pieces. But no matter what, the entire audience will enjoy a sexy, playful, funny, and creative performance.

Where are you located?

I live in the city of San Francisco, very close to Golden Gate Park. I am willing to travel around the Bay Area. I do not have a car, but am able to rent one through the City Car Share.

Personnel

Miss Sweet Tea: Performer and Organizer

Influences

I initially got into burlesque after seeing a lot of neo-burlesque in NYC and Crazy Horse Paris in Vegas. Now I find myself leaning a little more towards traditional burlesque--elegant costumes, classic moves, and music from the early 1900s.

A few burlesque performers/troupes that I love: Rhinestone Follies, Dita Von Teese, Deanna Danger, Ultra, and Honey Bunny and the Hot Toddies.

My big inspiration for creating pieces is the music. If I start with a solid tune that I love, I can easily make an act that the audience will adore.

What to Expect

Typical Gig Duration: 3 - 7 minutes

During my performance, you can expect each audience member to be watching my every move. That's what is so wonderful about burlesque! It's absolutely fascinating to watch, the audience will get wrapped up in the anticipation, and will love it down to the last second.

I always make sure to scan the audience and include them emotionally in what I'm doing. I love to make the audience hoot, holler, and laugh. You can be certain that everyone in the audience will be in awe of the female form. ;)

Stage/Setup Requirements:
chair preferably with no arms (certain acts only)
ipod player or cd player
secure area for my belongings

Additional Notes:
The most important thing to note is that after my pieces, I will be barely clothed! Having someone onstage afterwards to pick up my things would be a huge help.

Many things vary act to act...

Music:
I always will have a simple mp3 to play on my iPod or a cd with the song(s) on it.

Lighting:
As of yet, I have no need for elaborate lighting. My pieces are self-contained and regular house lighting or stage lighting is fine.

Staging/Set:
Some acts I won't need a single thing onstage/in the performance area. Other times, I might need a chair or two.

Set/Song/Sequence List:
