Awards NightStephanie performed at our State Awards banquet and all I heard was how wonderful she was. She played an array of mello instrumentals that complimented our event beautifully and she was a joy to work with. It was so good my executive director wants same thing for next year. Thanks stephanie!

Overview

About

With a great love for orchestral music since early childhood, Stephanie Maughan began studying the cello at age 13, in Chicago, after playing the piano and flute.

Stephanie recently won a scholarship to 2011 “Playing for Peace” a summer quartet workshop for adults from conflict stricken areas in the world, sponsored by Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music in New Hampshire.

She has been a member of Cape Ann Symphony since 2001. She joined Salem Philharmonic for the 2011 season. Previously she spent a decade with the Merrimack Valley Philharmonic. She was also a member of Longwood Symphony for several years, and has played with the MIT Summer Symphony and Boston Bar orchestra.

In May, 2010, Stephanie joined a local quartet. She has also done solo performances for several years with Salem’s Holiday Historic House Tour. Since 2007, she has been a frequent church soloist.

For the past seven years, Stephanie has brought her passion for cello and teaching to adults at Newburyport Continuing Education and at her home studio. She recently joined the faculty at Whole Music’s new studio in Amesbury.

Her teachers have included Shirley Miller, former principal cellist of the Evanston Symphony. She currently studies with Cheryl Campbell.
