About
To many it's just makeup, but that is dependent upon who is applying it. Contrecia 'Trecie' Tharpe is an artist, to say the least. Makeup to her is more than a hobby… more than a mere application…more than strokes from a brush…it's a passion, her love for art and beauty magnified. From lessons to videos, from brides to models, from high fashion to glamour, Trecie is an aficionado of makeup artistry. Trecie has worked under the legendary J.K. Hunter and has had her work featured in several publications. She was named the makeup artist for the TV show 'Not Just Country' and has worked behind the scenes at fashion and award shows. She has worked with various photographers from around the US. With work and dedication to the field, Trecie hopes to be one of the top makeup artists the world has seen. When asked what keeps her going, Trecie responds 'My passion for makeup is like my second baby. I feed it, I nurture it and in turn I get to watch it grow. I love the look on the face of a client after I have finished a look… that keeps me coming back…that keeps me longing for more.' A graduate of Paul Mitchell's Skin Academy and licensed aesthetician, Trecie is familiar with all skin types and skin conditions. She feels that a woman's true beauty is only enhanced by makeup, not masked by it.
With a love and desire for giving back, Trecie founded the G.L.A.M. (Girls Learning About Makeup) Academy in August of 2010. The academy, which is a non-profit organization, is designed to teach preteens and teens age and school appropriate makeup and skincare. Each academy is 3-4 hours long and includes live demonstrations, skincare instructions and a hands-on period for the girls to practice their newly learned skills. Each girl walks away with a kit containing the makeup used in the class, a t-shirt and a certificate of completion. This program has received news recognition and is a big part of MUbT!
Seeing a need for recognition for those fashion/beauty industry professionals, Trecie founded Model Citizen Magazine (MCM) in 2010. MCM strives to cast a spotlight on independent boutiques and fashion designers/brands, as well as, feature work from some of the hottest models, makeup artist, photographers and stylist from across the world.
They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, Trecie's vision is keen. Her predictions for the future are expansive, but she's shooting for the stars.
